Hi there, I had my repeat photographs yesterday. I first noticed my CSR 13 weeks ago, had changes at 7 weeks in and then started to feel things improving from week 10. Now when I check on the amsler grid I feel it is a lot clearer although definitely not quite gone. Working at screens has become much easier again and I felt sure my photographs would be positive.
However, the optician says the photograph has not changed at all since my first one. There is an area of redness and patches of dark pigmentation. So I have now been referred for an OCT scan. She said there was no fluid, which confused me as I thought that’s what had caused my distortion? Can anyone explain better what I’m experiencing?
I have my scan on 17th November.
Thanks xxx

Hi, from my experience the distortion is there after the fluid is gone and then slowly improves as the layer in the Macula recovers. This is what’s been pointed out to me on the OCT scans. The layer slowly flattens and the distortion reduces.
Unfortunately, my vision is pretty poor in my left eye, but, I’m sure there’s a lot of people worse off than me, so, that’s the way I look at it. It’s frustrating though, because my hobbies involve reading and computer work. I’ve had to ditch my laptop and move to a monitor for the bigger screen. I’ve also bought a proper reading lamp, which has helped. Before the scan, I was hoping a change of spectacle prescription would help, but, the consultant did say I shouldn’t expect any significant improvement. The strange thing about all this , is that I had no idea I had CSR although I did suffer from headaches and temple pain on my left side. But, I guess that could have been due to any number of causes. Good luck with your scans . I wouldn’t worry 😉 I’m sure you’ll be fine . Let us know how you get on. Take care
