I have been taking supplements for the last 10 years especially Vitamin C. Presently, I am taking 8000 mg spread out throughout the day. It is criminal that the allopathic community is ignoring the benefits of this supplement while people are dying needlessly. Don't take my word for it but listen to PHD Andrew Saul at Doctoryourself.com where he has updates on successful treatment of Chinese patients. I did not provide a link which could be suspect but just search the internet and you can find him. One more point, 60 minutes UK did a piece on a farmer on his deathbed with the Swine Flu (H1N1) and brought back to life with Vitamin C. You can look it up at youtu.be/Au-mp6RZjCQ
My intentions are solely to try and help people, having endured 5 years of Avastin and Eylea injections, I see many posts from this community who are elderly and susceptible to complications.

How much you want to try this may depend on how much your condition is an auto-immune problem. If you boost your immune system, you will probably have it increasing its attack on things it has incorrectly identifies.
Megadosing with vitamin C was much put forward by Linus Pauling in the early 1970s. I used to take a megadose (up to 7 grams, say) of it if I came home from shopping and had had someone I suspected of a cold standing behind me and to lessen the symptoms any time I caught one – with substantial benefit, I thought.
Not sure I follow your train of thought but Vitamin C should boost your immune response to any attack but not cause it to attack healthy tissue from my understanding.
You probably did have some benefits from taking 7 grams of Vitamin C but I would spread that out throughout the day with meals and if somebody does try this, go slow and listen to your body. If you get loose stools, you probably have taken too much and can ease up somewhat.
Protecting myself from a cold, I thought the "hit it hard" approach would be best.
The immune system is complicated and I'm not a medic. It would seem to me that if you boost your immune system, it would increase the attack on healthy tissue in autoimmune cases as well. I thought I'd read something of the sort in relation to garlic when reading about the autoimmune protocol (AIP). Googling just now, I see something about some sort of switch, so it probably all wants looking at very closely.
According to the Washington Post:
"Since news about the coronavirus broke, there is a good chance you have read or seen advice about how to “boost” your immune system — whether it is loading up on citrus fruit, sipping herbal or green tea, eating yogurt for the probiotics, or taking vitamin or zinc supplements. Unfortunately, there is no evidence any of these strategies will supercharge immunity. To understand why, let’s consider how the immune system works."
Ok ironbrain, I am not in the medical field either but I do listen to the experts that know what they are talking about.
The Washington Post article states that you should get everything you need from your diet, I beg to differ on that statement.
They also state that you should get 150 minutes of exercise per week, good advice for anybody but if you are sick in bed, good luck.
Another expert I listen to is Thomas E. Levy, a cardiologist and lawyer who is mentioned in the article below and he specifically mentions how to boost your immune system.
Yes, I fully realize what you are saying, and as I've said, tend to agree that vitamin C megadosing can be at least helpful in certain circumstances.
My question is though: if we boost are immune system are we not, if we have an autoimmune condition, increasing the attack on organs affected by our autoimmune condition – as it says in the Washington Post article:
"A “boost” in that process would not be a good thing. Scientifically, it would mean your immune system was overactive, and overactive immune systems lead to autoimmune disorders. You just want the immune system to function normally, so it helps prevent infection."
and whether vitamin C might ba an exception to this problem.
Dear Ironbrain, we could go on forever discussing the immune system and how it works or doesn't work. Like I said I am not involved with the medical field, I am not an educator. My goal was to introduce people who don't know about the benefits of vitamin C to a different way of looking at things.
I will leave you with one more video since this will be my last reply to you on this discussion. Don't have any more time to do this.
Again, this video is about Thomas E Levy, a Cardiologist(MD) an educator and a lawyer who is an expert on Vitamin C.
Don't get distracted about his comments during the first few minutes on Iron since he was continuing his discussion from Session 1 of this 2 Session series.
This is over one hour long, 1 hr. and 6 minutes to be exact, but in it, Dr. Levy does discuss the immune system for your benefit and also discusses Vitamin C to combat many ailments and it's anti-viral properties which is timely even though it was made in 2017.
My only concern was that people with autoimmune conditions might want to think twice (at least).
I remember chemists discussing Linus Pauling's ideas over diner in university hall in the early 1970s. It was probably the later 1980s that I tried vitamin C megadosing. It was the only thing I then took for a cold - I think it was the 2000s before I "discovered" paracetamol. My finding after years of trying is that it helps most if you hit the cold hard before it starts developing. Not sure I found it useful for flu. I've not had a cold for years, the flu for decades. FWIW I take about 2-300 mg of vitamin C a day, but I've a big pot of 1 gram tablets for ...
Always interested to read other people's experiences.
Hello again ironbrain, it is good that you are concerned about people with auto-immune conditions so I thought I would respond one more time.
I just finished listening to an interview that Dr. Mercola (Doctor of Osteopath) did with Andrew Saul. Two of my favourite people discussing Covid 19 and alternative treatments other than washing your hands.
At the current time, I'll probably put most of the mental energy I have available to looking at substances and medications that stop the virus from attaching to the protein it needs to to develop. I came across this description using graphics on the German ARD channel:
Thank-You Annsandra13, I am well, trying to cope like everybody else.
I should also mention that even with my supplementation of Vitamin C, I still practice social distancing and hand washing. One must still use caution and not put yourself or anybody else at risk.
vitamin c does not stay in your body very long and for any benefit you need to take zinc with it as that kick starts the immune system and it helps if you take vit D with it too
Exactly, Vitamin C works very well but definitely does not stay in your body for long and if you are sick, gets used up quickly and needs to be replenished. The sicker you are the more you need. I do take some zinc and about 6000 mg. of vitamin D3. They recommend taking vitamin K along with Vitamin D for proper absorption. That is why you will see Vitamin D and K combined in supplements.
Whilst there are benefits to vitamin C and it is important to have a balanced amount of it, the NHS does warn about having too much (more than 1000mcg) as it could cause harm, please see their advice linked below:
Excess vitamin C is excreted in urine the NIH in America say “Approximately 70%–90% of vitamin C is absorbed at moderate intakes of 30–180 mg/day. However, at doses above 1 g/day, absorption falls to less than 50% and absorbed, unmetabolized ascorbic acid is excreted in the urine:
Taking vitamin C will not prevent or cure corona virus, you can find out more about the virus and the latest information about the progress in diagnostic tests, treatments and vaccines here:
