Hi guys, I've had great news. My oedema is completely gone! Best result in 2 1/2yrs.
I know it's still early days but I'm allowing myself a week of euphoria!!!
Next review in 3 months ( apparently there has to be a 5 mnth gap before next implant if I need it). It was good to to hear consultant say I could have more as had a different message originally - I think it's the fact there has been improvement with both that has changed the view).
I told my consultant about having been signed off work since the 2nd implant and he agreed it had made a difference and said I should continue to be off and relax. He also advised meditation.
I have been reading voraciously the last month as it calms me (and who knows when won't be able to ) but I did wonder if it was a good idea, eyes did get tired - clearly it hadn't had a detrimental effect.
Eye pressure is raised which is a side effect of implant so back on the timolol drops buts that's ok I know they work.
Anyway, I'm going to enjoy the time off, got a new stack of books to read.. Best wishes to everyone xxx
That is good news ineed. I am so pleased for you. I know you have gone through a lot of trauma and upsets in the past. Long may your respite last! Make the most of it. I keep my fingers crossed for you. xx
Hi Eyesright, reading your latest post with interest and how is it going?
Mr Smiler is scheduled back at Clinic next week and vision dropped over 2 months by about 50% since last injection a year ago. He is promised an injection this time and he’s braced for that!! Will post the outcome. Overall still only 4 Eylea injections over his 3 year journey for his BRVO.
Carry on reading and chilling out. Every day at a day.
Hi smilers, so far so good. I'm at 11 weeks now which is longest period ive had. Review 28 Feb.
Vision still blurry first thing but clears ok and I can read fine.
Sorry to hear Mr S has another inj coming up but at least you know it's likely to work . Will they do another set of 3 or just the 1 and see how it goes?
Has he been stressed lately? My consultant advised meditation.
Hi Eyesright, we are assuming one injection at a time, so over the 3 years he had 3, then, 1 a year later and now we are heading for 1 a year later again. The Consultant was going to laser a year ago but on treatment day the bleed had stopped! His vision is down and not so quite down next visit but last night maraculous it seemed clear. It’s back down again today.
Light remains a key factor, specs changed for reactalites and he mainly reads with a Kindle, which has been a huge improvement for him. He is a book man and so we are both amazed he took to reading in a new format - the Kindle was a present.
He will be stressed next week on clinic day and that’s fine we expect it. He takes a couple of calmers on clinic day and they really help.
Glad you are feeling so positive, it will help. Will keep in touch.
I wasn't offered laser because my damaged area is too close to the fovea ( ie it would cause more permanent damage than currently have). For me I think laser will be a last resort. A friend has had 3 implants to good effect so I'm mentally prepared for one more but obviously hoping not!
I asked about stress because I'm sure, and my consultant agrees, it affects brvo recovery. I'm currently very mellow lol x
Hi again, yes laser is a last option and the Consultant was pleased it was not in the end required. We think you’re right about stress, so keep on reading and chilling out.
