Hi again Caddy45,

In essence Avastin does the same thing as Lucentis and is used worldwide to treat wet macular degeneration and other 'wet' macular type conditions. It is an Anti-VEGF drug. Avastin works out a lot cheaper than Lucentis.

Hi there. I have had both Avastin and Lucentis injections over the last 3 years and have done much research on both. Basically as the Macular Society says they are basically do the same thing but the as far as i understand the molecules in Lucentis are smaller and so can be absorbed better than Avastin. However this does NOT mean Lucentis is better for all. I responded much better to Avastin than Lucentis. Hope that helps. I have DMO.
