I was diagnosed with Wet AMD in the fall. Was Started on Avastin - 3 injections no change.

They switched me to Eylea and I’m having devastating fatigue.. first episode after injection only last 5 days.. 2nd injection now 2 1/2 weeks with extreme fatigue.

Any others out there experiencing this

Dear Cjs1030,

Have you reported this to your ophthalmologist, who you are under for your injections?

It is also important that you report this extreme fatigue to a doctor, in case it is a case of correlation and not cause i.e. in case you are experiencing this extreme fatigue for reasons unrelated to the injections which need exploring by a doctor.

Kind regards,

I am suprised as been having Eyelea for 3 years with no side effects. I'm now on an eye implant with different drug every 6 months does same job save getting injection every 6 weeks. Ask about that

Yes! I have a big reaction to eylea! By the second day after the injection, I begin to ache, first my knees, then my hip joints, and with a week, I am aching all over, so stiff it's painful to get up after lying or sitting down. I am usually quite healthy and active, but for the 4 weeks following the injection I am stiff, achy and generally miserable! I can hardly go up or down stairs. And my ankles and lower legs swell. The process builds until week 3, then it gradually improves until about week 5. I have taken 6 injections, usually at 4 week intervals, so it was fairly continuous. I didn't connect it to the eylea for the first 4 injections. I blamed stress, fatigue, poor eating, lack of exercise. Until I had a 6 week break and began feeling normal! Then another injection and it all happened again. My DR doesn't believe me, doesn't think muscle, joint pain are related to eylea but I have had 2 injections spaced at longer intervals, long enough to clear my system and then start all over. It's miserable! I will not take anymore eyelea. I am searching alternative treatments!! In the meantime, I'm trying to get more rest, exercise and take care of my body! And I'm researching scientific studies using botanicals and supplements, because, tho my eye has improved, I just can't tolerate eyelea! If needed, I will try one of the other drugs available, but for now, I am continuing with the botanicals and supplements!

so sorry for your journey on Eyelea. I’ve had injections for 5 years and haven’t experienced your symptoms. I would like to suggest you seek information from your quality medical care team. Botanicals may feel like an option but they are highly unregulated. Once your eyesight is gone that’s it game over. You are truly in a tough place. My heart and best hopes go out to you.

Mac Society is right...no way Elyea injection would give you Extreme Fatigue. View Dr Google, your EF is caused by many, many other conditions....

Sorry to hear you are experienceing such fatigue, and that it seems to be connected to your eye shots! I received Avastin shots for several years - from which I picked up a silicone bubble, which bothered me for several more years. This is, to the best of my knowledge, because in the US the preloaded syringes with stick-on needles used for Avastin eye shots are more prone to leak the silicone lubricant into the eye than other sorts of syringes. At the time of my cataract surgery, the surgeon was (thankfully) able to remove what he called "the Avastin bubble". I am currently receiving Eylea shots in both eyes. If there is a connection between Eylea & fatigue I have not become aware of it. I am 82 years old, and often experience fatigue, but then I also have COPD . I have come to view fatigue as part of my old age.

I've had syfovre injections for. A year and I've been incapacitated for 6-8 days after each objection. Now I'm having to get Avastin injections in the other eye I have other health issues also, complicating the effort to know the cause. So your post got my attention.
