Hi everyone; I hope all is well. I'm nearly six weeks post first intravitreal(IV) Avastin injection and ten days post second IV Avastin injection. My BP is pretty high(160/90's) and nothing else could explain it other than perhaps some chronic dehydration. I was mildly elevated at times(pre Avastin therapy) but nothing ever this high. Increased BP is a somewhat documented side effect of IV Avastin injections. Anyone having BP issues since starting IV Avastin?
Edman
edit: I initially states that BP rise is well documented when it is somewhat documented. I've located two reviewed documents that mention it. It is well documented that anti-vegf injections diminish the body's nitric oxide levels. This could likely have an effect on BP levels.

I don't have avastin and was on bp meds prior to my eye prob but the doc added in another bp med recently. That's approx 6yrs into lucentis, eyelea and ozurdex treatments - don't know if they were the cause though.
I started having BP problems 3 and half yrs ago, I'm 73 and never had problems until then, I've been on Eylea for 4 yrs, coincidence ? I dont know. I am surprised the eye clinic don't monitor BP if only every 3 mths ....
I only had to have one shot and 15 months later have not needed another one. I have on the low side of blood pressure so didn’t have any issues.
Honestly even though I went every two weeks then once a month for follow up for a year I don’t recall them taking my blood pressure. They would test the pressure in my eyes but that was it.
I have never had my BP taken by the clinic team Edman and they know I am on BP meds.
My BP was higher than normal for the 6 years I was on it. I haven't seen my family doctor since the outbreak so I don't have a read on my BP after beginning Lucentis; in the last months. I personally wouldn't contribute a rise in BP for something I normally get nor the drug's interaction itself but more to the trauma we go thru having a needle (or more) poked in our eyes. That kind of PTSD is not counted by (at least) the US docs..I cannot say for the UK. Most Docs over here relate PTSD to war wounded...hence others with PTSD go untreated and worse..unrecognized.
I have Eyelea injection and on 2 occasions the last being 31stAugust my BP was 245/125 I cannot say for definite there was a connection,it was about a week after but it is a worry.
