I seem to having kidney infection after kidney infection. As soon as I stop the antiobiotics, 2-3 days later, I have a fever and the infection is back. I just cannot seem to get on top of the infections

That's a difficult and alarming one for sure. Are you presently taking any drug that impacts your immunity Gilly?

Hi Gillypom, seems like the antibiotics just don't work as they should and your infection is not cleared entirely. Can I ask which atibiotics were you prescribed?

Hi artemis. I had a culture test and the antibiotics prescribed are levofloxacin. They seem to be working and I feel that I am back to normal, then within a couple of days, its back again. I just wonder if I need a longer course? Thank you for replying, I appreciate it.

To me it seems like either the dose or the time of treatment is not right ,because clearly the infection gets reactivated once the treatment is over. Norally antibiotics will not kill all bacteria but will kill majority of them and the rest will get cleared by the immune system. Unfortunately with the immunosupressive therapy that you are on your immune system might not be able to contain the infection and so the therapy should be prolonged. Do you rememeber by any chance which bacterial strains came up in the culture?

Thats good, that is what I am thinking too. I do not have the report of the culture test but I am back at the hospital on Thursday and can request it. Thank you so much for your help :)
