I know majority of people get flares in summer but mine seem to come in spring and autumn/winter. Mostly when the weather changes. Tonight I am so sore.
Two relaxon, two voltarene and two betaserc later and I'm hoping all combined will knock me out! I'm not self- medicating although it may seem like it, all prescribed by doctor!
What do you guys do to stay warm? Obviously not too hot but warm? Two pairs of socks and a pair of slippers and I am freezing. My feet are like blocks of ice.

Hey,i too posted a blog about winter flares,i seem to flare all summer ,then come into winter with high hopes and ,its just one long flare!its going on and on ,thing is when were not in a flare are we supposed to be symptom free ???i never am ,hope you get some respite,
Hi Brave--My rheumatologist said that lots of people get flares in winter due to the number of bugs around that our immune systems have to process. Even if we don't get the bugs themselves, it causes flares due to them passing through the system. Like you I always feel worse in winter and asked him about this. Hadn't really thought of it that way and it made me feel better to understand why it was happening. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi, As soon as the weather gets colder my body starts to 'complain' and my joints are so painful, I have to sleep in a seperate room from my hubby so I can have the heating on all night and have some cotton gloves (they are supposed to be for when you treat your hands to a moisturiser) just get them from Boots. I wear those all night and like Sher78 fleecey socks. Our heating bills are quite high and when we know friends/family are comming I just put Layers of clothes on as Most people do not like the heat. Roll on Summer for me, as soon as it gets hot the pain fades. Lets hope we ALL have an 'easy body' time over the Christmas holidays to enjoy our family and friends without having to 'cancel' those special nights out. I wish you all Good health, Great happiness and most of all Love for the comming years.x
Hi- I also have had trouble with winter flares. My rheumatologist suggested they might be connected to low vitamin D levels (because of less exposure to sunshine). He's a pretty smart guy and there is evidence that vitamin D may play a role in lupus activity. I choose not to take mega doses but instead to supplement with a couple of children's multis. I also consume a lot of dairy. Doctor has to check D levels to make sure they aren't too high or low. He would like me to take more D but my levels are well in the normal range now, so I am going to continue what I am doing. I don't know if that's the wisest course--I like to be conservative so this is consistent with my way of thinking.
Hope the winter is mild on your side of the Atlantic (I live in New York, USA)--though they say we pay for the mild winters with storms that drive flood waters across our lands (as in the UK and eastern USA this fall). Good luck!
Keep warm and well in the big apple ,i too take kiddies multi vits , i eat well so i top up with minimal supplements ,as with conventional meds my body struggles with supplements also ,softly softly approach all the way with me ,merry xmas
