My partner and i decided to have a night away (the first time for 4 years) and so i scanned the bbc website for the coolest place in the country. the east coast it was, forecast of 22 degrees.
I slapped on the factor 50, wore my hat, donned long shorts and a loose t-shirt. went for a walk along the seafront at 9am - thought I would be fine. Decided to move inland and visit a wood, partial shade i thought I would be fine. Silly me!!!!
By midday, I thought I was going to collapse, I was retching, my face was burning even though not sunburnt at all, my knees, ankles and feet were swollen. It took us over 5 1/2 hours to do a 2 hour journey as we had to keep stopping in the shade for me to calm down as the temp had reached 29!!!
I have well and truly learned my lesson as I lay in bed feeling absolutely terrible, so achy and washed out with a lovely sore rash across my cheeks.
If we go away again I swear it will be in the spring or autumn, a wonderful weekend spoilt by Lupus
