My Dr. says I have Lupus after my bloods came back saying so and that I don't have Rheumatoid,

But I went to my Rheumatoid Dr and he say's I don't have lupus but I do have Rheumatoid I have the tiredness, the aches and pains, the numbness the brain fog and I could easily spend a whole day in bed. I work as a child carer so by the end of the week Im so tired. The thing is If I have Lupus shouldn't I come down with every germ going round the Nursery like Sickness and Diarrhoea.

  • Thank you both very much I just thought that because it was on you immune system that I was susceptible to every germ going round. :-/

  • Hi Debbee,

Lupus causes an overactive immune system which makes it attack your own body causing inflammation. It is unlikely to increase your susceptibility to infection. However, some of the treatments used in lupus suppress your immune system and this can increase your chance of picking up infections.

If you'd like more information about lupus I can send you one of our free information packs?

  • If you wouldn't mind I would like a information pack.

  • No problem. Send me a private message or email paul@lupusuk.org.uk with your name and address and I will send one out.
