I was diagnosed with SLE and APS around 25 years ago ; I take Warfarin to control my blood INR and have little or no trouble with this. The inflammation and connective tissue flare ups , I just try to endure , but as time goes by they are becoming harder to bear.

Because I believe that most of the conventional drugs used for SLE are toxic I decided to stop using them many years ago .

I firmly believe that there is a natural cure out there , just waiting to be found ; all the plants , trees , grasses and herbs , etc. have been placed on earth for a purpose.

My question is , has anyone with SLE used any natural remedies that has moderated their symptoms or ; dare I say it ; eradicated it.

Cucumin has been working really well for the stability of the disease!

You will need to be careful with curcumin as it can increase the risk of bleeding when taking warfarin. As DorsetLady said below, many natural medicines/foods can interact with pharmaceutical medicines. Being natural doesn’t necessarily make them safe

I used to work in a pharmacy and the pharmacist was very into natural alternatives where possible but *always* advised caution and recommended speaking to your doctor before trying anything new, natural or otherwise.

Thanks for the advice ; I have my own INR monitor , so when I try anything new , I am able to monitor what's happening ; daily if necessary.

If you are still taking warfarin then be aware that many herbal supplements interact with it -so check anything before you consider taking anything

Thanks for taking time to reply. I self monitor INR which allows me to experiment a little.

I focused on repairing gut health with kefir and eat well. Used black castor oil on joints applied externally. I use plaqunil 400mg daily for the last 14 years. L x

Dear James,

You are very brave! I too am a firm believer that there must be something natural for our condition and have been trying all sorts spending loads of money and effort trying one at a time over last twenty years. I do numerous self help for circulation and etc. And excellent diet as well. But I cannot completely skip medication like you have as my extreme skin hives and inflammation cannot be tolerated daily. I am praying and waiting for the day when the research doctors will find a way to balance and normalise immune system instead of shutting it down as they do at the moment. That day will come someday but will it be within my lifetime? Take care and stay well.

Thanks for your reply ; like yourself ; skin problems are one of my most severe problems but sadly not the only one. I was also diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer , 30 months ago and declined the Radiotherapy offered to me ; another toxic treatment. I am basing my hopes on an old Indian tea recipe called Essiac tea which I have been taking for 28 months (it consists of burdock root / sheep sorrel / slippery elm / indian rhubarb root )

Nice talking to you ; keep the faith. x

Gosh! I am so sorry. A lot for you to handle. I do hope you are making sure to keep your condition scanned and checked regularly at the hospital as cancer can spread to bones from prostate...

Ayervedic therapy didn't help me at all. I tried it for months and had to give up. But I know it can be very effective for some individuals. So all the best wishes to you!!! 🙏

I also read an article in newspaper some years ago about a woman who was given six months with stage four breast cancer and she took CBD oil as she felt she had nothing to lose. And it brought her complete remission.

Stay strong and stress free with a deep sense of optimism! Take care!!

Lemon, ginger, turmeric and cayenne pepper in tea, cutting out sugar and using honey as a substitute has been helpful in reducing my inflammation over the last year. Been on a low dose of steroids also and painkillers when its too unbearable, eating more fruit and veg and a little exercise each week. Hope you find the balance for what your body needs!
