5 years ago, whilst living in the midlands, I was diagnosed with negative ana lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. I was looked after by a wonderful team and felt very grateful.
Unfortunately, 3 years ago we had to relocate due to my partner’s career and the rheumatology department here have discharged me, stating that they believe I was over-diagnosed and I have fibromyalgia instead.
I have just discovered that I have hundreds of nodules under my skin on my forearms and thighs. I have done a bit of research and it seems that these can often be linked to SLE and arthritis.
I intend to make an appointment with my GP, but in the meantime do any of you have these these lumps under your skin?
I’ll be most grateful for any input please.

it more than likely is a cyst. I’m referring to lumpy nodules, hundreds of them beneath my skin. These are apparently often associated with subcutaneous lupus.
Hi Jasmine. I have many lumps as you say along several tendons, ligaments in my legs mostly and random bumps elsewhere. I was planning to ask about them at my next appointment as I always forget. I have lupus SLE. It makes sense that inflammation and the attack on our soft tissues could form lumps and bumps. But it would be good to inquire at your next appointment. MrsMarigold
Hi MrsMarigold. Yes, I think it’s a good idea to enquire about them. When we go to appointments it’s so easy to forget about things that are not foremost in our minds. It’s like having this time slot that you’ve been awaiting and once you’re with the consultant you tend to concentrate on the “bigger” issues and before you know it your time is up.
