hi sorry not been around in a while. Has anyone experienced this before - I’ve been told my iron is 2.2 dangerously low and then just left it at that. But my eye is slowly getting worse. Any advice would be great! Much love ❤️

Get an appointment at an optician. You don't have to be registered and as it is 'urgent ' you will have a free examination.

No optician you pay for a check up if you are concerned for your eyes and get an OCT scan as well , unless you are diabetic or you fall under any of the NHS category of subsidised not required to pay.

No: you will be seen as an enhanced NHS appointment which, is free. If it is considered by optom that a routine appointment should be made, there may or may not be a charge. This is regardless of if you normally pay for your tests or have NHS vouchers.

It should be Eye casualty emergency hospital not optician as such .they are two different things

I'm an Optical Assistant and I do this say in and day out. Anyone can present at any optometrist in the high street with an urgent eye health issue. In our particular clinic/store we fill out a triage form which the optom asseses and based on that the patient is either seen straight away or told to make an appointment. If they need to be seen but we have no availability because all emergency slots have been taken for example, then we are legally obliged to call all other optoms in town to arrange for them to be seen. These appointments are free of charge and an Enhanced NHS form is filled out. The outcomes may result in immediate referral to hospital emergency eye clinic or a routine referral. Hope that helps.
