Hello,Please can I have some advice re sunhats. I am going to Crete in July. I have hats I wear, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a factor 50 hat, that doesn't make the head really hot.
My problem is the sun protecting hat, inevitably makes my head hotter than without a hat. Catch 22.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I recommend one of the new hats with face veils. They have been life-altering for me. A hat can only block so much sun because the rays from water and sand are reflected. Too many examples of it for me.
Try Solbari or Coolibar for a hat with a removable veil. You will much safer in Crete.
This is what I wear and swear by them, I have three now. I either wear them as shown or turn the brim up all the way round. They give excellent protective cover, don't cause 'hat hair', can be folded so kept constantly at the ready in handbags and best of all machine washed. I have to wear 50 SPF and foundation and that can be scrubbed off the inner with Vanish.
I have the two colour beige/natural one and when forced out into the sun, wear it with the Solbari poncho in oatmeal. I find I can wear cotton shirts of any description under the poncho and as the poncho is free moving it is cooler than heavy weight protection clothing.
Once you get yourself set up with kit you must go and have a fab time in Crete, it's a wonderful island, but hot hot hot! I was near there a few years ago and also used a Solbari sun brolly. They are brilliant too and I find that if wearing a hat really does become too hot in a super hot climate, the brolly is cooling. It's most odd, it seems to create a cooling breeze underneath though I suspect it is just super protective and therefore cooling!
Can I ask if they are adjustable, I have a small head and sometimes even a small hat doesn’t fit, I seem to go around holding my hat on when it’s breezy. These hats sound good though.
Brilliant ideas. Thank you. It had reminded me that I tried sun brollies last year, but the one I bought was so heavy...any ideas on a light sun brolly please ? I will deffo get a solbari hat as well.
