Hi there. I had neg biopsy for Sjogren's this time last year, diagnosis of SLE. Not sure if sun affect, but the last couple of weeks my usual constant thirst and dry mouth is much worse. I take a drink of water and it's as if nothing happened, so I'm constantly drinking now.. Sores in mouth too. Any advice on what might help with the thirst? And teeth friendly lozenges? Or prescription products I could discuss with Rheumy at next week's review? Worried about my 55yr old teeth as gums obviously not happy. Thanks all. A song keeps going through my head for us all in this lovely weather - "you can keep your hat on!!".. D

Constant thirst, dry mouth, glug glug
I think it is Xylitol chewing gum that is recommended for dry mouth in Sjogren's not too much, it can have a laxative effects!). I'm also fairly sure there is a product that you just hold between gum and cheek that helps - I'm sure someone here mentioned it.
This has suggestions for help:
I find Xylimelts from
are good for nights, placed between cheek and gum. I chew sugar free gum during the day.
As the thirst has only got worse in the last two weeks have you thought of getting your blood sugar tested?
Hey there. I have bloods with FBC done every two weeks as on methotrexate. That wld have blood sugar test in it, yes? Ir no? It's been bad for couple of years now and they say it's sicca and sailadenitis. Perhaps it's just due to hotter weather? Thanks for yr reply, D
