Hello I hope this finds you well.

How do you respond to sugar?

My skin burns everywhere and I feel sick. It lasts about one to two hours. I am not diabetic. Thank you. MM

I feel like that.

I'm borderline diabetic rather than diabetic, and insulin takes a bit longer to get released.

I really had to change my diet a lot. Not eating cakes, big baguettes, soft drinks etc.

Some chocolate is okay but not much..

Sugar is known to increases episodes of flares or creates reaction of lupus skin or inflammation in the body. Which is why we are told to reduce or withhold sugar in our diet. But unfortunately there is alot of sugar content in everywhere in our foods packaging.

Difficult to say with “sugar “?🥹

Glucose and carbs are found in so many foods! practically all? Some will spike your BG levels. Eg bread!

I should know! I’m a type1 diabetic.😢

Perhaps you’re pre-diabetic/borderline diabetic??🧐

Get a fasting HbA1c blood test done to see whether you’ve got some insulin producing/glucose metabolism problems!

Most important.

You may be insulin resistant? Measure your BMI as well.

Many people are totally unaware that they’re actually clinically diabetic and suffer serious diabetic complications later in life.

Thx Betty. I get checked regularly. Low dose prednisone now 4 mg doesn’t help. I had gestational diabetes with all 4 births and I know that puts me in a critical group. Every lab is different. My Dr said I’m ok at a of 106 but over 100 is considered high. I think you are right I need to get the fasting A1C. Last, I’ve had this reaction for many years. Very subtle at first but now skin burning painful. Thx for advice MM

But do get burning skin on my arm and there is a rash like and they look very much like lupus lesion spots . Much like the others I have on my legs and face and body. The ones on my arms there is multiple spots they have calmed down now but gets worse when I am in the sun or gets hot/any heat on it.
