Has anyone else developed an issue with sugar? The last few times I have eaten cake I get the sudden urge to go to the loo and a couple of times have only just made it..........
With regards to my vision issue with my left eye, I am now off both hydroxychloroquine and tensipine and on the whole my vision has returned (still have the odd blurry issue) . Spoke with the senior nurse at my rheumatology department and have been told that I will not be going back on hydrox......... I have an appointment there on the 7th October so hopefully I will be given a new medicine as I don't like not taking anything - i keep wondering what lupus is doing to me whilst I am not taking anything. Before that appointment I have the one on 1st at the eye clinic to have yellow dye injected into my arm so they can see what the lump in my right eye is...I will be a minion for a couple of days. I did think of Marge Simpson but I am more the height of a minion plus I love bananas...

I have an issue with cake and if I have coffee with it I'm in real trouble. A very small piece of cake is fine but I rarely attempt coffee with it! I have been having lactose free milk for a long time now and that seems to help! Yes I sometimes rush to the bathroom (and sometimes have not quite made it!) It's awful....
Me too, so depressing ! I now go out with an emergency kit in my bag. The minute I get a sign I dash to nearest loo. Unfortunately not always close - makes you feel very alone., and hopeless. Spacing my pills and taking them with a sandwich or proper meal does help. Good luck.
When I was on Hydroxychloroquine I used to have periods of extreme weakness and shaking where I had to have something sweet. Apparently it lowers your blood sugar but if you are not on it anymore I just don’t know. Mind you probably because I am on morphine and iron so I rarely have that problem lol. Good luck with the eye test. You have a wicked sense of humour and a great outlook on life x
Thank you. I tend to try and make light of the situation as it stops those around you fretting. Am not looking forward to tomorrow eye test with the dye nor getting the results...who knows what it will show
I have that problem with any usual sized meal so mostly eat tiny portions more frequently.
If we have to go out for an actual meal or to friends for lunch I always take Imodium Melts before it.
Even once I start eating at the table if I feel the dreaded colicky feeling rumbling I go into my bag and take two Imodium melts, they dissolve on tongue instantly and work in a minute or two.
They have not failed me yet, fingers crossed!!
I get them on prescription now ,but you also get them off the counter in chemists. Just gives you a bit of confidence knowing you have them. xx
I was having a lot of issues around sugar intolerance including white bread, and I've been diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes but only borderline. Only the Hba1c blood test showed it up as it gives average levels over last 3 months, not just on the day x
I have the same problem ! Not anyone I could really mention it to until someone (bless her) brought it up at our support group. We tried different methods to see if we could find an answer. For me it is the pills - when I spread them out over the day I don’t have this problem. We also came to the conclusion that it could be what the pills are coated in , since when I took Zentiva brand of Hydroxychloroquine I didn’t have this problem. I now take Prednisone and prob is back unless I take pills hours apart. Sertraline - anti anxiety drug also causes same problem. Don’t know if this will help but ..... good luck.
