Hello wonderful people. Just a quick update as I am so relieved I had to tell you. I have just put the phone down from my fabulous ENT Consultant. She had just received the results of the mass from the lab and wanted to tell me the good news. No cancer but an haemangioma. She confided that she had really thought I had paranasal cancer and she knew that I was worried so wanted to put my mind at rest before my check up two weeks from now.
Such patient led and incredible service. I could not have asked for better. Maybe I can sleep now.
Thank you to everyone who sent me well wishes. I appreciate your kindness so so much. ❤️

They certainly do. Finlay is so gentle with me bless him but I need to be a bit wary of Skye who is a mini bulldozer 🤣. They missed me so much I has such a fabulous welcome home. I love them dearly ❤️🐾🐾
Thank you Kat. I was convinced that it was paranasal cancer, I had all the symptoms. When I stop dripping snot, my cold sores have gone, my eye infection has cleared I will go out and celebrate that I will be around to see my boys grow up ❤️🐾🐾 but for now I will be happy with a take away lol Next to tackle the internal nerve blockers and perhaps I will sleep more than a few hours, then who knows knee replacement so that I can walk instead of hobble 🙏🏻 xxx
so happy to hear such good news cecily and such a lovely doctor who thought to put your mind at rest. Enjoy your celebrations. happy birthday to hubby, for Monday. x
Now that has made my day! I shall have a warm glow all day despite the wind and rain lashing outside. Thanks for letting us know. Enjoy your anniversary. xx
Thank you so much. Yes she is such an amazing Doctor, very grounded and approachable. Apparently there is no need for further treatment. She has removed as much as she could . Most haemangioma need no treatment but the cavernous type can fill your airway, cause loss of sight or even stroke if they grow into the brain so it had to come out.I am very, very fortunate xxx
Honestly she has been so amazing it makes me emotional. I was sent fir a CT scan two days after she saw me for the first time, I had two post op checks and despite severe reservations she agreed to do the op by local anaesthetic as I am high risk for general anaesthesia. In the operating theatre she told me I have never done it this way before so if I hurt you please tell me. She explained the different tools she was using, told me not to worry when I coughed blood all over her. Throughout she told me how well I was doing and how brave she thought I was. She laughed and said she would need to be out cold to let someone shave the bone in her nose or use a claw scissors to rip off lumps of tumour. We actually laughed about Greys Anatomy which she said was a load of crap. She roared with laughter when I said “ what do you mean you are not all having sex in the dressings room”. 🤣
I could not have had better treatment . It was a real shame that I haemorrhaged because the 4 inch rubber balloon plugs were the most painful things I have ever experienced in my life. I actually told the junior doctors that if they did not work and aI bled badly again I would discharge myself and bleed to death before I would let them put them back in. They hurt so badly going in I screamed and passed out. Then they blew them up and I thought my face would explode. They pressed on the roof of my mouth and every single tooth in my head experienced pain, I had earache, headache and pressure. I paced for 50 hours dragging my drip. It was only when a fabulous nurse persuaded me to hold an Oramorph and paracetamol mixture in my mouth and gave he an anti sickness through the cannula. I slept like a baby then lol xxx
Sounds like a terrible experience but thankfully you are now through it. At my local hospital you can nominate members of staff, (not just medics), for awards. Is there anything like this at yours as your consultant certainly sounds like she deserves one. Xx
That’s such great news, thanks for sharing the good news and great that you have a caring ENT consultant. I hope the harmangioma doesn’t cause too much pain for you. Take care
Thank you so much. Hopefully the damned thing is gone. Apparently they grow for a year then stop but with a cavernous type like I had it affected my breathing and would have cost me vision in my left eye if they hadn’t caught it quickly. Xx
That’s so good you had a great consultant who was on it and diagnosed it quickly and all removed, it must have been such a worry and a difficult experience for you. I hope you recover well now x
Yes I have nominated her for an award with our Health Board and written a letter of compliment about the whole team. I cannot talk about her without becoming emotional to be honest. She had never done this op under local before, she was out of her comfort zone and what usually would have taken 20 minutes took 2 1/2 hours. I was encouraged and told I was doing so well throughout. She talked about her dogs and gave me a break in between cuts, showed me the instruments she was using and why, showed me the bit of mass she extracted and a before and after of my nostril. To then call me herself with the good news was just exceptionally good practice. I have seen so many Doctors and Consultants over the 15 years I have been sick and can honestly say I have never been treated with such care and respect before.
I am having a bad day today, headache, earache, toothache and a lovely flare to keep me on my toes but I know things will improve now xxx
That’s amazing and you should be nominated for an award too going through it without full anaesthetics! Not surprised you’re having a flare up now after what you’ve been through and after hearing the good news it still would have had an impact on you. Take care x
All I did was lie there and spit lots of blood everywhere. At one point the Consultant said clean up, Julia`s chest looks like a bloody abattoir. We all laughed. The anaesthetist who has a whippet said keep coughing it and spitting it, don’t worry about us and stop apologising. If you swallow that amount of blood you will be very sick later. We even joked about Casualty and Greys Anatomy, for an operation it was remarkably jovial and calm. It cannot have been easy for any of them to have me there watching and listening. All the junior doctors came for a look too. They asked if I minded I said of course not. As I left theatre they were all patting me as I went past. Such a shame I haemorrhaged and ruined it but still I am hone safe and sound thanks to them xxx
Probably one of those bit delayed flares. Thinking back on it all and also natural steroid really reduced with the relief of it all. Think you deserve gold medal, and the doctor.👩⚕️😷🎖
No they changed nothing and afterwards made me waited hiurs for pain relief. In the end I took my own and told them why. They tried to confiscate them but I refused. It wasn’t the nurses fault they could not get the Doctors to ratify it. Sadly the junior doctors were under such huge pressure even on the critical Care Ward.
I have hade hubby a large cheesecake this afternoon ( his choice) and he has agreed to have a take away as I feel so self conscious of my draining nostrils and cold sores. We will celebrate properly when I can put some slap on and wash my hair xxx
Thank you so much Bonny. Yes I think today is the first day my nose isn’t running constantly, my cold sores and clearing and I slept got five hours last night so all positive 🙂 xxx
I just logged in and so happy to see this👏👏👏👏sleep well friend , I know what an understandable worry this has been for you and feel the enormity of relief. wish you never had this to begin with as you've been through it but the good news is fantastic 🤗💐
