I work in a management position and its quite normal to ask for evidence from health care professionals. Ultimately you have a protected characteristic with your conditions so you shouldn't have anything to worry about and getting a letter should be easy you'd be surprised how many people say they have been unwell and seen the doctor but they have no evidence, there's always a paper trail in the medical field.
They should want to implement reasonable adjustments for you at work and with the written evidence from your health care professional they should want to support you rather than get rid of you!!
It is possible they may question your suitability for the role and reliability however with evidence from your practitioner they should work with you to make your work life easier.
I've been very open with my employer and provided letters as I've received them I haven't had any time off but think that's because they have been able to support me to slow down a little suppose it depends on the job you do xx
I totally agree with sunshine634, my work got occupational health involved who set up an appointment with an independent doctor. It was a telephone appointment and the doctor wrote a report on what adjustments my work needed to make to support me. I hope it all works out for you.
my manager said they are trying to run a business and can’t keep loosing employees for three months then they requested letter from consultant rheumatologist which states this will remain ongoing and will worsen at times and will affect quality of work.
Hi, you need your occ health on your side, mine were tremendous for years with support and gadgets etc to make my working life easier, until eventually I was asked to retire on permanent ill health. I was given a years garden leave on full pay and then early retirement, as working was getting impossible. so get them kicked in xx
