I got this update from Zentiva this morning regarding hydroxychloroquine:
Thank you for your enquiry regarding hydroxychloroquine.
As part of our patient safety responsibilities, please can you confirm whether you have missed any doses of this medication?
Hydroxychloroquine was out of stock recently due to shortages of the active ingredient. However, it is now available again for pharmacies to order from wholesalers.
If you have any further enquiries, please contact us by email (UKMedInfo@zentiva.com) or telephone (0800 090 2408).
So, no reason not to be issuing prescriptions then!

Thanks, for the update going to check around again, including independent pharmacy further away.
Local one I have been going to still can't order. Pharmacist allowed me to view screens today, she can only use Aliance not Aliance Specials due to restrictions in access put in place by their head office. Reason given was cost of brands and them only being allowed to dispense the cheapest. Yes, that is what she said.
Interesting thing was Blackrock 200mg appeared in her list and was accepted (maybe this is now back, alongside 300mg).
Will see if Blackrock 200mg gets delivered tomorrow or just more IPCA.
My prescription states Zentiva.
There were others in the pharmacy who had wrong brand prescriptions equally upset. It is not just HCQ.
I have had trouble getting Zentiva over the 8 years I’ve had it prescribed- I even had a Dr show me the screen where she wasn’t able to prescribe it. I eventually changed doctors as they had no real interest in my Lupus just wanted me on their stats for diabetes and blood pressure, neither of which were a problem. I found an independent chemist who would order them after my new GP wrote Zentiva on the script. I can only say persevere to get them, there is no difference in price but these suppliers must have contracts with NHS. My new GP is private - there’s the difference. Good luck.
hi I was just going to ask about this, my pharmacist tried to give a generic brand of placqunil last month, anyway he managed to find a few for me, today I received my medication ipca was the type but over the top the pharmacist had written Zentiva type, I had especially asked my gp to add it on
