Hydroxychloroquine by Zentiva

Does anyone know how I can get hydroxychloroquine by Zentiva? I have been getting it from Boots for the past year but today I was told that there is a shortage of the drug and no one else can get it.

I can’t tolerate any other brand as I have a stomach condition which is being monitored by yearly endoscopies. Does anyone know if I can buy it abroad?

Hi I had this problem too, you can still get it, my memory is bad so I can’t exactly remember what was said ? Different suppliers anyway boots and other pharmacies only have a few they can buy from

I have phoned Zentiva they have no problem with stock,

I phoned several pharmacies and some still do get them

Also the new delivery company, you just need to phone around

You can still get it it’s the only one l can use as well. Is it stated on your repeat prescription zenita l had to ask my gp to state that particular brand. I think it’s being stock piled so l would ring around as your regular pharmacy if they will order some specifically for you mine does thankfully. I’m in Spain at the moment and l will ask them if they have it.

Hello, Angelina. Yes, as others have said, you can still get Zentiva. Gloomy Eeyore posted a letter from them a few weeks ago confirming it is still available and what to do if you can’t get it. The system won’t let me share it but if you search her posts I’m sure you’ll find it,

Hi - I'm still getting the drug as well. The chemist sent me one that upsets my tum and makes me nauseous, stomach cramps etc...when I rang to let them know I was told the zentiva were hard to get.....she said she'd phone round and let me know. Must only have been 15 mins or so when she rang back to tell me they had found a supplier.

Seems to be one of lifes mysteries, one minute all ok, the next "not available" and then wait!! oh yes they are. Try another chemist

Zentiva have confirmed there is no manufacturing or supply issue with this medication.

Some pharmacies such as Boots only use certain suppliers, if their suppliers have not purchased this brand or do not have any in stock then they are unable to order it. I would suggest taking your prescription to a different pharmacy. Many independent local pharmacies use various suppliers and are able to order it :).

Thank you for your replies everyone. I phoned Zentiva too and they confirmed they have it in stock. I used to get it from Boots but they must have changed suppliers..one of their pharmacists told me that no one can get any as they are none in stock. I am getting my prescription back from Boots and going to try another pharmacy but I am wondering whether this has to do with cost.
