Zentiva update 15th August

Hi all

Just received the following email from Zentiva in last few minutes

"Dear Judith,

Thank you for providing further information on your situation. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience the ongoing issues obtaining Zentiva hydroxychloroquine are causing and the consequences it is having on your Lupus management.

We can confirm there is supply available, however, due to the previous shortage of our product, some wholesalers have not resumed placing orders, which is resulting in pharmacies not being able to get hold of stock.

We are working closely with wholesalers and Lupus UK to resolve these issues as a matter of priority."

Maybe there is hope for us, now how to ensure we get the meds we can tolerate? No timescales given, but lets hope it isn't long. I have yet to respond to them as you, my fellow Lupies, are my priority.

Thank you cobsie! Just had a chin wobble in the local chemist when he said they have half a box, been in tears most of the day!

That’s great news but sadly won’t help as the wholesalers have stopped allowing specific brands to be requested to most pharmacies 😢

There is always that concern. One step at a time. If no improvement I still have a case number with Zentiva and Lupus UK are still involved, so no doubt the fight is not over. Take care x

Thats a good sign, thank you for contacting them . If we all continue the pressure, hopefully it will be resolved. I'm only now realising having been on Zentiva for 2 years , how much difference it makes to my digestive system . I stupidly thought feeling unwell was a symptom of Lupus ! To have gone backwards over the last month is so frustrating!

I was and am prepared to pay for a private prescription , let's hope it doesn't get to that .

Let's hope people power wins out. My poor pharmacist will be relieved, fed up of me bugging him , not his fault !

All fingers crossed. 🤞

Not everyone has a reaction to other brands; Zentiva does appear to be the most tolerated one, so does not cause other symptoms such as gastric upset. We really need it sorted as some could not afford to pay privately and nor should they. Well Pharmacy has not managed to get Zentiva in to provide me with the balance they owe, only IPCA so it was a no from me. We still have some hope but it might take a while to filter through to pharmacies. Take care x

surely even if you get a private prescription, if pharmacies cannot get it, where would you take it to for the meds?

I don’t know anything about private prescriptions but see your point about how to get it fulfilled. Hopefully it won’t come to that. Take care x
