just get your prescription from your gp and take to any pharmacist, they will then tell u if there is a shortage or will then order them in for you if not contact the manufacturer so you can get advice from them regarding this. Failing this keep prescription and phone around all your chemists to ask if they have any in stock good luck.

Hi all just to let everyone know I have spoken to Zentia/Sanofi and we should now have all our normal Hydroxcycloriquine back in stock they did have a shortage but its all sorted again now and our pharmacists shouldn't have any problems as he said they are rolling them all back out as normal. if your pharmacies say the can't get it they have said to tell them to ring them and they will help sort it for us. Tel No is 01483 505515 and the product code is the same which I will also add to my post 1201730 x

Just wanted to say thanks so much for the info Willowwag. I took your info to the pharmacist and I have finally been able to get hold of some Zentiva. Without the product code etc I was getting no-where. Huge thanks :-)

Yes my chemist had trouble too. They managed to get some before I ran out so I hope they will be able to get some more next time. I don't know what the problem is but I wish they'd get their act together !

They are coming into supply again at the end of September apparently. In the meantime I got the prescription, phoned round all the local inde chemists and got the last packet from one.

That's helpful I will be contacting all chemists in my area xx

I am having the same issue trying to get Zentiva. My local chemist usually orders them in especially when I ask for them but she was told they wont be available till October. I phoned lots of places but no joy. Only got enough left to last me 2 weeks. I phoned Sanofi and they said should be available to wholesaler 18th September. Appears to be a brand that suits many Lupus sufferers so why so many supply issues? Might have to try another brand as a last resort but not happy.

CRYSTAL11 in reply to Annabelle2223

Oh no I don't like the thought of trying another brand. I am ringing around to see if I can track any down. Xx

I have been having issues getting them also, I am having to check around constantly. Apparently there has been a supply issue.

You've had great replies, so little to say. I've just noticed my packet only has a week left in it. I wish I could get myself more organised and keep a spare months supply at home for when this kind of thing happens! But with having 5 daily meds that don't run out at the same time I never seem to get it right. Good luck.

CRYSTAL11 profile image
CRYSTAL11 in reply to Wendy39

I so know the feeling I am on 14 and counting so would need a whole room just to keep them in. I do have enough for 2 weeks could cut down to 1 a day. Let's just hope today's calls come up with something xx

Wendy39 profile image
Wendy39 in reply to CRYSTAL11

Cutting to 1 a day must be last resort. I was told to do it when first diagnosed, for the winter and I flares pretty quick. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. Smaller chemists more likely to have a packet on their shelves. Good luck.

Wendy I'm the same I take 12-16 meds a day and they used to run out at diff times you can ask them to sort it for you so they are all due the same time, they will adjust your meds accordingly thats what happened with me, as I used to run out of one 1 week and the others the following week its so much easier now. As they are all die the same time.

Hello. My husband picked up my repeat hydroxy prescription today and I'm delighted to say it was Zentiva! I had asked OH to make sure it was and he said the chemist (lovely man) knew it was the only type I could tolerate. So I am feeling very relieved but do sympathise with all of you who can't get hold of it. I live just outside Edinburgh and use the chain chemist 'Cohens'.

CRYSTAL11 in reply to Solitaire16

So do I do you see dr O'Rielly. He has changed over the years. He will listen the me now. How often do you have the injections and do they last long and work. I have to take 25mg of hydroquortozen (excuse spelling ) per day as my body doesn't make it any more. That just keeps me going but doesn't help with the Lupus or sjogrens xx

First injection today so not sure how it will work and for how long. Will keep you posted.

Hello. I've run out today and just gone to collect my meds, after dropping repeat at my surgery on Monday and no Zentiva. She tried a few places online whilst I was there, with no luck. I've run out completely. She offered other brands but the side effects have been so horrible in the past that I can't bear to try again. So I refused. She said she'd keep trying. It's only now I've realised that she kept hold of my prescription so I can't even try anywere else! Been a busy morning and I wanted to get home. I wish I'd asked for the script!!!! Annoyed with myself. So goodness knows how long I'll be without it. What is going on???? Us lupies face so many hurdles, this kind of thing seems VERY unfair. Paul_Howard Is this something Lupus UK can help with? Someone has posted that supplies will be replenished at the end of September. So that means I will be without for a few weeks yet. Why is this allowed to happen? Wendy

My pharmacist said middle of Sept so just hanging on in there. Hope it comes soon.

Wendy39 profile image
Wendy39 in reply to CRYSTAL11

I hope so. 5 days without and counting. Wondering if I feel the effects of a break or not??? Never had a complete break from it before. Fingers crossed we all get it soon. X

I have tried all the pharmacist in the area (West Sussex) and run into same issue. Please update if you see any sign of supply issues being resolved. In my case I have not even been given any indication of if and when the supplies would be replenished.

Hello. Like I said it's not available here in Pembs yet. I found one box of 56 in a smaller pharmacy but i had an 8 day gap - with no hydroxy at all. I am sure paul will let us know when he hears anything more. X

I went to pick up my repeat prescription meds from my surgery's pharmacy on Thursday but they couldn't get hydroxy. She'd tried the supplier - Pheonix I think she said - none until ndct week they told her. So my fingers are crossed that sometime this week I'll get a phone call to say it's come in. It's 9th October now after all. X

I am glad to report that after trying many different pharmacies with no luck, I went back to my local LLoyds, with the help of my determined Pharmacy Technician, who was able to get the LLoyds special order department to provide Zentiva, not only that she has gotten 3 months worth of additional supplies to be kept aside for us. So the moral of the story is that if you have a nice pharmacist or technician who is willing to go out of their way and be determined then it can be done.

So pleased you have finally got it. I have found the same as you, if you are pleasant and nice to the pharmacist, they will go out of their way to help you with this.

I have finally got Zentiva from my local pharmacy. They have been really helpful and tried very hard many times over the last couple of months to get this sorted. So we are all grateful it’s finally arrived.
