Hi everyone,my Rheumatologist suggested I could try stopping methotrexate after 20 years…anyone else tried stopping after such a long time,I’d love to come off it but a bit scared of consequences.TIA.Xxx

I stopped after only a few months as my fingernails went brown and I blamed the Methotrexate! I honestly didn’t feel any different on or off it. Good luck with the change, I hope it goes well.

Yes I stopped after about 10 years a few years ago. I think we reduced the dose first for a few months as previously I flared after a break. This year my joints are aching and my hands painful. Hard to know if this is lupus or ageing with steoarthritis. Since only 5 min phonecalls last 2 years and none so far this yr from my consultant I dont know when I will find out! Good luck - def worth doing
