I have Lupus, diagnosed about 6 months ago. Blood work also showed anaemia, with low Folic Acid and B12, so I’ve been on supplements and eating hamburgers (after 27 years of no red meat).
Is anaemia a common co-morbidity with Lupus?
I also have had hypothyroidism for 20 years, but that’s been under control with daily Synthroid supplements.
This anaemia is new to me.
Thx all! 🤗💕💕💕

About 50% of lupies have some type of anaemia. B12 deficiency anaemia is autoimmune and is linked to thyroid disease .I have hashimotos which is autoimmune thyroid disease ( I take armour) and b12 deficiency anaemia for which I have b12 injections every 8 weeks.i have pernicious anaemia so I don't produce the enzyme that allows you to absorb b12 from food hence the need for intra muscular injections.its important to treat b12 deficiency as it affects the nerves and can cause damage. B12 is available in tablets and drops . X
Yes, I also have anemia, since my diagnosis my blood count has been really low that is become normal for me. I have vitamin D deficient for more than 9years. I have been put back on steriod for four weeks now because am struggling with my neutrophils. It's part of our problems as lupus patients. I pray your doctor help you manage it well. Take care
Yes I’m b12 deficient and anaemic with under active thyroid . I’m on b12 injections every 12 weeks making a difference I really need them. Talk to your doctor about this . Most lupies have immune issues too. Take care and rest often. It helps a lot. X
