I’m asking for any help that can be provided. We are not sure yet but we may like to go on a 14 day cruise to the Baltic areas. Obviously I need to declare the Lupus but are there specialist companies and do you know of any please? I did a quick search on the internet which came up with three companies. I am sure some of you lovely people know of a trusted and liked company. The ones we looked at don’t seem to cover Russia. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have not been away on holiday since I have been diagnosed so this is all new to me. Just need to have all the info before we decide yay or nay. Thank you in advance.

Help! Any ideas on good travel insurance companies in the UK that insure for Lupus?
Well I lived abroad in various places, Vietnam and Ukraine mostly. And I have to say had no issues declaring it, none had an issue, largely because they probably didn't know what it was per se. And I don't have a good medical record, so I would assume you should be fine with most.
We have used Explorer Travel Insurance. Pre pandemic we used them regularly and they covered me with no extra charge but noted I had lupus.
HiYou may think of a different area for your ideal travel destination. After listening to a wide ranging news outlets this am., there is alot of turmoil brewing (putting it calmly) in this area of the world...
I say travel advisory maybe changing quickly & I am not sure travel insurance covers wars as well, without considerable costs? They are talking air, land assaults, etc.
Check out Lupus UK for travel advise and if your 50+ some other sites like Age Concern or Saga magazines for insurance coverage.... ml
Try All clear insurance. I have used them prior to the pandemic. They are quite reasonable.
I got a policy from justtravelcover.com in the last few months. I have lupus nephritis and they offered cover for me and my partner. I got cover for Europe but they did offer World cover. Good luck with your holiday.
I can understand your concern with Russia. Whilst I was living in Ukraine, a couple of years back, the war and the panic was prominent then. I lived a few kilometres from the conflict area, of Donetsk and Ludansk, taken in the war of 2014, and worked in the military hospital for some time.
The war is very real there. The air raid sirens often and the nuclear bunkers lined every street.
The escalation has been brewing for some time, and NATO has done little to stop it for many years. Russia's bid to take over Ukraine is as much a psychologically intimidating power display than it is anything else.
However, despite this ongoing conflict, i personally don't think it would cause issues for the cruise itself. They make calculated movements, and, won't start retaliating against cruise liners without just impediment.
There is little, if any, in the way of any companies that would cover war in the insurance, but again I don't believe you will have an issue on that side. Many war torn countries over the years have been great cruising destinations, like that of Egypt, the Crimea, etc.
Oh thank you for that reassurance. Mmmm. The situation is scary there at the moment. NATO has no right to intervene big time, I guess, as Ukraine is not a member. As you say, if there is a war there then the cruise companies won’t go anywhere near there and the holiday will be postponed or cancelled. I’m going to ring the company today to clarify the whole situation. Thank you for your advice, but feel sad you have seen the things you have in Ukraine. Why can’t people just live in harmony? You would think 2 World wars and thousands of other throughout the world would have taught a lesson. X
I’ve used this comparison website for the last 5 years or so. medicaltravelcompared.co.uk
Thank you. X
I should have added bravo you for thinking of a break and a cruise sounds wonderful... I hope it all comes off & you have a brilliant time... M
I use staysure for annual worldwide cover you have to say you’re cruising as that’s not covered in any ordinary policy without saying that’s what you’re doing it’s often cheaper to get annual cover than single trip! But do shop around Good luck xx
I use Aviva and had no problems getting covered. It doesn’t seem particularly expensive either. Worth getting a quote.
Payingtoomuch.com gives good quotes for single or multi travel insurance. Maybe check them out as well.
