I have sun induced lupus and been told to have all windows in the home and car fitted with uva and uvb film but I have no idea where to start in finding out prices, companies or type of film to get .Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, I’m sorry to hear you have sun induced lupus. My husband installs UV window film in the East Anglia area.

Thank you for your reply. However I live in London., I dont know anything about what type of uva/uvb window filters to get there's so many different types and makes.

I have them on my windows as I'm extremely photosensitive. We fitted them ourselves..it's quite easy to do but a bit fiddly. I got the film from easylife initially and then I got some more for the front windows from Amazon (privacy film). My daughter did her windows with Evo wrap. You can order the size that you need.Alternatively Dermaguard install it if you want a professional job. Just Google and you'll be able to find your nearest Dermaguard outlet I'm sure.

For the car again we installed it in the back windows as hubby does the driving and I sit in the back. A member on here did recently get her car fitted with it with Dermaguard.

It's very effective and does make a big difference. Best of luck 🍀

Thank you for replying. I've rang and looked on line and didn't realise how many different types or grades there are,how do you work out what % will insure protection. Sorry if this sounds silly I just don't want to buy the wrong one.As I can't work I need to apply for funding with lupus uk to help with the cost but don't know where to start, with quotes, companies to fit it to the windows which uva and uvb protection film works.

I just looked for one that is 99% protective from UV rays. Like I say we fitted it ourselves. We live in a two bedroomed bungalow and to get the film on all the windows bar one it cost us about £50. If you go onto lupus UK website and scroll down to Eclipse they have loads of info on light sensitivity

When I picked up my new car from a main dealer I asked and they got someone in to tint the windows for me before I picked it up. I'm just thinking if you want a company you can trust ask a main car dealer who they use. There are loads of ones that come to your home too but trust wise just do your research.

You just need to ensure that the film provides 99% protection and has minimal tinting to put in the passenger and driver seat windows. Ensure that they meet the legal requirement for those windows. We had them fitted by our car dealer- you really can't tell that the windows have the film on, unlike you see on some back car windows. Ask the car company to explain the different grades, they should guide you and know the legal requirements. I can't recollect there being much choice for driver / passenger windows. Hope that helps a little.

sunsibility.co.uk seem to have a good explanation of what is needed on their website. Just show someone the info, you think they would know being it's part of their business?
