I live in Liverpool and am unsure if I need to shield once again after yesterday's announcement. I work from home as an Holistic Therapist so I am unsure if I can see people at my home treatment room. I had only just felt comfortable enough to start seeing a few clients per week but now I am thinking that if I am in a tier 1 area then I need to shield again.
Any thoughts would be most welcome.
Thanks x

thanks for the quick reply. I did think that this was the case but trying to get clarification has not been easy. I was advised by one of my dermatology nurse that I am ok to return to work, she did not think that I should have shielded in the 1st place, even though I am having a lupus flare up.
I had decided to put seeing clients on hold for now and just offer distant Reiki and such. I am just feeling a little frustrated as I have built my business up over 21 years and now it seems that this is it the end of it all. Oh well it could be worse I guess.
We don't live in the UK and we are watching the UK news in despair. If this was supposed to be clearer than previous edicts we can't see where!
I'm so glad I live here in Italy - we get a daily update of how many new cases in our region (scary sometimes) and later a breakdown of which towns/villages are affected (effectively by postcode) which means we know we are still in a village with only 3 cases and a load of people in isolation (almost certainly due to a wedding last week in the local town) as opposed to one with hundreds. The figures peaked a few days ago and are now falling again - because contacts are efficiently identified and isolated. And fined heavily if caught breaking quarantine. A simple way to deal with pubs closing: don't congregate in the street in front of the pub!
The Prime Minister said he will be issuing new guidance for people in the 'shielding' group at some point today. Once this is announced we will be updating our information and guidance on our website.
like PMRpro i was under the same impression about households mixing.if you Google sheilding advice and tier 3 it says sheilders are to be given new advice.ive not really stopped shielding I still stay home as much as possible but have made a few trips out to a shop and done the college run. even though I'm in a tier 1 area I'm becoming more nervous as the situation deteriorates x
I dont think anyone has the right to tell you anything as they are not in your shoes living with chronic illness.only you know what you makes you feel safe and it's not worth becoming Ill with stress or covid to suit others.kinds regards and hugs to you xx
Yes you can see your clients. You are working from home. If you can provide proper covid protocols, mask, gloves and sanitiser etc, clean environment away from others, its fine. Its not the same as people paying you a visit. As long as they are symptoms free and have not tested positive, follow the same procedures as if you are a clinical setting, yes. This is on the NHS website.
You can also meet in social support bubble but not outside of it. Also on NHS websites for Liverpool.
You Can still help a vulnerable person as well following procedures.
Nobody is being asked to self isolate at present but if you feel it's for you, do so if you feel better.
I understand that people who are not part of your family / bubble cannot enter your house, for social reasons. But as for treatments in a business mode is different, that being said I had my treatment for reflexology cancelled, as the therapist who obviously knows I am a vulnerable person wanted to keep everyone safe..... I am happy for that. I am in north Scotland so slightly different.
Thank you No2Sunshine. As it turns out our whole street is having work done on the electrics so my front garden has been dug up and the electricity supply keeps getting cut off so I could not book anybody in for 2 weeks anyway. I will review the situation once the work is done.
