Anyone with SLE have the flu jab? I had it the first time last year through work and two weeks later couldn't move don't get me wrong don't think the flu jab was to blame but wasn't sure if with this condition it's recommended?

The one and only flu jab I had put me in hospital for a fortnight Ashleigh but others with SLE seem to tolerate them perfectly well. I gather my reaction *may* have been to the medium in which the vaccine is cultured but no-one is sure so I prefer to go unprotected and take my chances! As you say, becoming unwell two weeks later probably has nothing to do with the jab but it's clear we battlers will have varying reactions. My Rheumatologist recommends them though (apart from to me).

Just had mine on Friday, feeling a little sore & run down since but i would rather that than take my chances of getting full blown flu - could be very nasty with an already compromised immune system. Dont miss out get your jab :) GP said if i didnt get it hed be running after me with it lol!

I had it on Friday. On two different drugs that supress my immune system so I am not taking a chance. It was fine. I had flu once in my life. Thought I was dying.

I had it last year and was fine. Am having it this Saturday so will let you know. They did check that I was okay before I had it though.

I have been offered it but have never taken the offer up so far.

I have known people without lupus who have had bad reactions to it so incredibly wary about having it myself as I have suffered side effects to quite a few drugs.

If its a drug you can stop taking it, but with a jab there's no going back. Plus I have a cold at the moment so I dont feel happy about compromising my system further.

I would like to have it first time this year, but am a little anxious. My consultant recommended it, but my GP said that I don't qualify for a free jab. Do any of you get it free from your GP? I said that I will pay for it but the GP surgery said for paying patients from Decemeber. The pharmacy in Tesco said that they have to check if they are allowed to give it to somebody with SLE. Meanwhile, I am getting one infection after another (work in a school), so can't have it. It does not seem to be a very easy thing to do, to get a flu jab!

My pharmacy will give the flu jab for £12. the docs say my steroid dose not high eneogh for it be given free.

Hi, I don't think anyone should get the flu jab for many reasons, vaccination is a money making and debilitating criminal scam as far as I'm concerned.

express.co.uk/news/uk/36771...

"What many people do NOT know, however, is that death caused directly by the flu virus is very rare. The vast majority of so-called “flu deaths” are in fact due to bacterial pneumonia – a potential complication of the flu if your immune system is too weak. "

"Even many health care professionals are confused about this and are not aware that the preservative thimerosal is mercury. As a quick side note, one of my chief writers told me, “the doctor’s office told me the vaccine does not contain mercury, just something called thimerosal.” "

ask your doctor if they would vaccinate their kids.

Had mine last week & was warned to expect a localised reaction but had none, this week I do feel 'fluey'.

I've read all the comments and will definitely have mine next week.

Had mine yesterday, no effects so far, but I have just had my first two doses of Rituximab, so feel exhausted and achey anyway.

Have had them four times in the last four years with no ill effects, although I had a pneumonia jab, and have since had it three times. Hope you feel better soon.

I have had the flu jab every year now for probably the last 20 years with no problems at all. The last time I had flu it nearly killed me and now 20 years on with serious health issues, it likely would. I definately recomend it.
