Like many of us here hubby and I are waiting for hospital appointments - hubby for a heart ablation that should have been done by now and me for a referral to ENT for nose bleeds and a scab in my nose that won’t heal that I’ve had since March. So for distraction I’ve kept busy with crafts and my latest have been these cushions and knitted teddies.
The cushions I made mainly with material from Laura Ashley clothes I used to wear in the 80s and 90s. The nautical theme goes well in my conservatory which has the same theme and I made the Cupid cushion to use up the heart squares I had kicking around for years. I knitted the teddies to use up odd balls of cotton yarn.
I’ve had lots of fun making them and as hubby and I still have had no word about our appointments I’ll have to think of something else to make. 🤔 He has been cleaning and painting garden ornaments which will soon be stored in the shed for next year, and he has also constructed a short concrete path. I know what I’d rather do! 😆
Hoping you are all keeping safe and as well as can be. 🤗😘

Wow you are so talented. Your cushions are so beautiful. I loved Laura Ashley. Their dresses always made me feel so feminine. I have only kept one a white off the shoulder ruffled one which now would not fit my arm let alone my waist. I had a very bold blue and white deckchair striped suit when I was best woman at my friends wedding with a huge white feather hat and lace fingerless gloves and five inch white patent stilettos. Thank you for bringing back memories for me. I cannot Even thread a needle let alone sow something so lovely so you should be so proud of yourself. I really hope you and your husband hear about your hospital appointments soon xx
Thank you Cecily for all your kind comments. These were made on the sewing machine and I use a needle threader to thread the needle. I like to make things as easy as I can. 😉😆
Yes Laura Ashley’s designs were so feminine - I loved them. And your outfit as best woman sounds very smart! 👍🏻👍🏻 Haha, I know what you mean about our clothes from the past not fitting - that’s why I’ve given up and turned them into something else. 😂
Thanks for your kind wishes Cecily. We’ll get our appointments one of these days.🤞🤞 Take care and big hugs back to you.🤗😘
Hello. I’ve been knitting, as I usually do, however I started at a crochet group in January so I’ve been ‘improving’ on my own. I’m now attempting a Moroccan Tile blanket from a kit. Watch this space. I also make cards and had decided not to do home made Christmas cards this year but, as I probably won’t see many people, I’m doing a few. I’m also getting out a bit more now as cases are low in Midlothian . Haven’t ventured into Edinburgh yet, apart from a dermie appointment last week, Princes Street can wait! Hope you’re keeping well. Mtx is making a huge difference to me. Sending 🤗 hugs.
I love crochet too Barbara - it grows so quickly and is very easy to undo if a mistake is made. 😉 Wow! A Moroccan tile blanket sounds challenging. Yes, you must post the end result and your home-made cards too. Looking forward to seeing them.
Pleased to hear you are getting out a little more. I go out with hubby once per week to Dumfries - just a little shopping and window shopping. Amazing how what once seemed mundane now seems a wee treat! 😂
Glad the Mtx is hleping you Barbara. That is good news. I’m not bad thanks and enjoying my distractions. Take care and hugs back to you. 🤗😘x
Oh I love your beautiful cushions and those sweet little teddies- very talented- it’s so lovely isn’t it when something turns out well that you’ve made. I knitted some dog jumpers recently that came out really well, I’m not that great at knitting unfortunately- have a lovely day xx
Thanks so much Farmer - so pleased you like them. Mira might enjoy playing with the teddies! 😂
You should post your knitted dog jumpers - we’d love to see them. How about having Mira and Bea model them? I’m not a great knitter either, especially the sewing of the pieces together (not very neat I’m afraid) but it is fun to do isn’t it, especially when it turns out well.
Enjoy your day and I look forward to the next Mira Monday. 🤗😘x
Love the nautical theme Spotty! Are the cushions quilted? They are very pretty. The knitted teddies are so cute - must be very satisfying to see the results of your work, especially when waiting for appointments....
We have had quite a few clear outs over the summer and managed to fill a couple of skips with stuff that can’t be recycled - not quite the finesse of needlework, but satisfying all the same! 🤣. Waved the kids goodbye on the bus today, so quiet without them, so I busied myself with cleaning the loos! Sitting down for a much needed cuppa now! ☕️Have a good day, Spotty, lovely to see your crafting ❣️🤗😘
Thanks so much for your kind words Horsewhisper. No the cushions aren’t quilted - that’s a step too far for me. 😂 I try to keep things simple but experiment as I go along. I made the cushions to insert into the covers stuffing them with the contents of a cheap singe duvet I’d bought years ago which I don’t recall ever being used. Much more useful as cushions and stuffing for knitted toys! And the odd bits of cotton yarn are hopefully more useful as teddies and might bring a dog or cat a bit of pleasure.🤞🤞
That’s a big job you’ve done clearing out so much stuff. Would you mind having a word with my hubby to see if you can get him to do the same? He keeps taking bags of things I’ve cleared out to charity shops or the dump for me, but never gets around to clearing our his own spaces and his garage! 🤦♀️ There is barely 3 inches on one side of the car when he parks it in there and he has to come out sideways on the driver’s side! I bet you feel better for the clear out. It always feels like a massive weight has been lifted off you I find.
Aww, you’ll miss the kids until you get into a routine again. Never mind, the weekend is nearly here. I hope you enjoyed your well-earned cuppa and enjoy the rest of your day Horsewhisper. 🤗😘x
Your creations are stunning spotty. I'm usually busy knitting and crocheting but I'm too tired at the moment sleeping 10 hrs 😴 and can still nap.instead I'm collecting fabric remnants partly for masks if the family want anymore but I'm think of making chemo caps over the winter and making a set with a knitted heart and a draw string bag 🤔. My crafts help keep me sane especially during winter when I hibernate. Xx
So pleased you like them Spanielmadlady. Sorry to hear you are so tired at the mo. Has your winter hibernation started early? 😁 I hope you aren’t feeling a bit down - I know I sleep for hours and hours if I am. 🥱😴
I’ve made a couple of masks too and must make a few more. I love your idea of chemo caps and draw string bags. Do you have a pattern for the knitted heart? I’d love to make one.
You should post some of your knitted or crocheted items SML - we’d all love to see them.
Hoping you have more energy soon, and hoping you post some of your creations. Take care. 🤗😘x
No I'm not down my mood is quite buoyant. I'm due my b12 injection next week so that's part of it.im getting ready for winter my fuel delivery is due and it time to get my bulk buy of dog food in.
Yes I have several patterns .I made 250 hearts for covid patients in icu early in lockdown .I also sent some to hospices.they are very simple I can usually manage 10 a night.i like to try and do a charity project a year. I've got some wedding hearts to knit for march.i ordered some embroidered initials from America for them. X
Pleased to hear your mood is buoyant and hope you feel better after your b12 injection. Sounds like you are making headway with your preparations for winter. 👍🏻👍🏻 Good for you.
That is lovely that you do so much for charity. I’m sure they’ll appreciate the lovely hearts you knitted for them and those you are going to knit for the wedding in March sound gorgeous. Be sure to let us see them.
It takes about 3 days for my injection to kick in.all my knitting is on love crafts community.About 3 years ago I knit and crocheted my friends wedding decorations . .bunting, wedding bells and hearts.i never told hold her and went with them packed in boxes with a big bow 😁 .the last item I knit was a cardigan for my son in laws birthday in july xx
That is a lot of experience.😳 I had a look at Love Crafts and what a lot of lovely items and demonstrations. 👍🏻 Unfortunately I didn’t find your work or any other individual’s, but from what I saw I’m sure they are of a very high standard. Thanks for telling me about the site.
You may have to register to join the community where you can display your creations. It is an excellent site for crafters so much choice as the pile of wool behind my sofa proves 🤭 xx
These are lovely spotty, your very talented. I do hope you and your husband hear about your hospital appts soon. It's really hard waiting as I know, life is on hold!. You have both put the time to good use . Hope you think up your next project and enjoy doing it. Keep well and safe both of you. Xx😊💕😊Xx

Hi Spotty, Sorry to read on all the waiting games playing out with appointments these days. But, I do Love all your sweet workings. They are such an inspiration, everyone's are. Makes time go by, keeps hands and minds busy, good for the hearts and souls. Therapy at it's best! Now, if I could only knit, LOL. But I do have many pieces of clothing to spare, and so much of Storms hair, I know looking at everyone's talents here, I can get busy with pleasantries, and crafting over the coming months. Everyone, keep crafting, and sharing all your joys here! Bunches of blessings, and Love, to you hubby and all. Thestormy sunshine
