Alpaca and Baby Budgie Cheer for my Lupie Friends on Here!

Hello everyone, I thought Iโ€™d post this collage pic & a little story about kindness to hopefully bring some smiles to you all ๐Ÿ˜Š.

It was hubbyโ€™s birthday recently and a shielded friend who owns an Alpaca farm (itโ€™s normally open to the public but shut due to pandemic) said we could go there for a birthday picnic. We had the place to ourselves - it was such a kind gesture and as a family it was nice to go and do something completely different! Also, my friend has aviaries - she had rescued some baby budgies that had fallen out of their nests and were being attacked by the other budgies. She is hand rearing them, feeding every 3 hours around the clock. Hope you enjoy the pics! ๐Ÿฆ™ ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜

Thanks CP - they are curious creatures - great to sit and watch them grazing and mooching about with their babies. Xx

I watch them on The Yorkshire Vet and absolutely fell in love with their cute faces and little sounds. Animals are amazing. I watched a program on Bears in a sanctuary last week, the second part is this week called Bears about the house. I laughed, sobbed and I intend to send a donation when I can. Such amazing, beautiful creatures and the cruelty they face breaks my heart in pieces. Xx

Weโ€™ve got the bear ๐Ÿป program recorded- we just love the wildlife programmes - there was a fascinating program about killer whales a few weeks ago that you can get in bbc iPlayer if you missed it xx

Oh thank you I will have a look. I normally cannot watch any wildlife programmes because any animal that is a prey animal gets me so anxious and distressed. I have been that way from a child. I know it is nature but I just cannot cope with it. The bear program is so wonderful I watched it all but actually broke my heart at the cruelty. Xx

Thanks D! Yes Iโ€™ve noticed a few more random acts of kindness during lockdown, which has helped - especially during the tricky times. Howโ€™s your broโ€™? I read in your post that heโ€™s not been too good lately? Xx

Hey there - sorry for late response. Thanks for asking. Yes brother has plummeted - his Parkinson's and Lewy Bodies plus being at home alone for months with minimal support(ahem!).. led to two falls and then hsopitalisation and he's been deteriorating ever since. I hadnt seen him since March until two weeks ago - it was devastating. He looked as my father did at 85 and in hospital not far from leaving this world. So it's been tough. Difficult situation due to all sorts... but we're close again now.. he'll be moved to nursing home soon, as I think as of 4days ago they have finally managed to get his medication in the right place. Frankly I thought it was curtains, and he was near it apparently. He's only 60. He's now asleep more due to the meds change but better than how he was which was full body tremor, all day. He's completely unable to manage anything for himself, and can hardly understand anything at all he's saying. He might be like this for a while yet, but he's at high risk of pressure sores, infection, choking, renal failure, etc etc as bed bound and has dysphasia. It's just dreadful. I visit every 3 days now via lifts from friends. Thank goodness as otherwise it woudl be public transport.... Thankfully there isn't any Covid at the hospital he's in now but there was in the previous one... and the nursing home he went into in the middle before he plummeted again. Can only hope he is moved to a nursing home that definitely allows visitors. Poor chap. It's obviously knocked me rather - but can't be helped and I rest up as much as can inbetween days. Hope you and yours are doing OK and thanks again for asking xx

Great pictures and lovely story to boot ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ hope it was a great day, looks like it couldnโ€™t fail to be ๐Ÿ‘

I felt with some alpaca wool, itโ€™s harder as softer and finer to use than sheeps wool but sooooo soft ๐Ÿ‘ apparently if you are allergic to sheeps wool you can use alpaca as does not cause the same reaction, and my brothers mother in law wears alpaca wool for this reason ๐Ÿ˜€

The baby budgies are adorable, spotty will love them ๐Ÿ‘

Lovely pictures and lovely creatures.๐Ÿ˜ Somebody about 2 miles from us keeps Alpacas and they always watch us as we walk past and listen as we speak to them. They are lovely. Iโ€™ve kept budgies in the past and they are such loving and giving wee things which if you speak to them often end up imitating you and even copying your laugh. My Mum thought many a time Iโ€™d asked her โ€œWhat ya doing?โ€ or started laughing when if was actually Shelly, my then budgie. ๐Ÿ˜‚

What a lovely friend you have to rescue and hand rear the wee things and to give you and your hubby such a lovely venue for a birthday picnic. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I recently celebrated my 65th with hubby by having a picnic in our conservatory because a small garden party Iโ€™d hoped to have wasnโ€™t possible. It was prevented by foul weather and the fact weโ€™d temporarily gone back into lockdown due to a spike in cases locally caused by somebody having a hot tub party with somebody who tested positive for Covid 19! Never mind, it meant hubby and I could have larger pieces of the cake! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฐ

Thanks for posting Horsewhisper and belated happy birthday to your hubby! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜x

Aww thanks so much Kat for your kind wishes. ๐Ÿฅฐ Foggy brains are very common in this household too which can be very frustrating. Gives us a laugh though at times, if we arenโ€™t angry about it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes, there was plenty of cake for both of us, too much really.๐Ÿคช Mine is still hanging around my waist and hips ๐Ÿฅด but hubby seems to eat what he likes without putting on an ounce!๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Annoying man! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Birthday wishes to you Spotty! Larger pieces of cake always a bonus! Nice to hear about your interactions with the local Alpacas and Shelley your budgie friend. I used to have a yellow canary called Hector who sang and sang and sang. Such a lovely sound. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜

Thanks Horsewhisper. Yes, Shelly (named after Shelly Bay a favourite haunt of ours) was a good talker. I knew a DJ of our local radio station and he dedicated a song to Shelly who was his most loyal listener because I left the radio on for him all day long Whether we were home or not. Neil also conducted an interview with Shelly using a recording of Shelly saying Hello Sweetie, What cha doing?, Mummies boy!, Cheeky chops! Thatโ€™s naughty! and other things as well as laughs, with appropriate questions from Neil put in between the recorded responses. It was so clever and VERY funny. My last budgie Eros was a totally different character and enjoyed playing on the floor with a catโ€™s ball and tiny toys on wheels. Heโ€™d roll the ball to your feet and peck your foot to kick it for him. If you didnโ€™t respond he pecked harder and harder until you did, then heโ€™d chase the ball saying โ€œGet it! Get it!โ€ I wonder where he got that from? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

All creatures great and small brih=ng so much joy to our lives donโ€™t they? Thanks again for your lovely post and for your kind wishes Horsewhisper. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿฆ™๐Ÿฆ™

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚Itโ€™s funny how animals get us to do what they want - we think we are the smarter species but somehow I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s always the case! Eros sounds super clever! And as for the radio recording of Shelley, the listeners must have been crying with laughter! For several years, we had a crow who followed us around the garden whenever we were outside - Mr Edelweiss we called him. Sorry, a little warning here, it is a sad story....One evening in February last year, he tapped on the front door with his beak, as if he was knocking to come in. My son opened the door and Mr Edelweiss hopped over the threshold and settled down for the night in the corner of the porch. We left him there snoozing and I felt that he wanted to come in out of the cold and spend his last night with us. He was quite old. The next morning, he tapped on the door of the front door to be let out, he slowly hopped away into his favourite bush only to pass into birdie heaven. The kids seemed fine with it as they got the chance to say goodbye to him....we have another Mr Edelweiss now - which is very sweet of the local crows to find a replacement for us! Gosh reading this back seems all a bit bonkers but I think you understand all this Spotty!!! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-eweโ€ข in reply toHorsewhisper

I certainly do understand it Horsewhisper. And it shows how much he trusted you and your family to come indoors like that. Poor soul. Crows are so intelligent - I am very fond of them not least of all because they were on the family crest of my maiden name so hubby and I always joke they are my family. One pecked on the window of my bathroom while I was in there dyeing my hair 14 years ago. It turned out to be the exact time my Mum fell in her garden. Then the day she died (we had her in her own home) one sat on her chimney top the whole time but never appeared again after she passed and Iโ€™ve never had one at my bathroom window before or since. Howโ€™s that for bonkers? I think there is a great deal we donโ€™t understand. I wish your new Mr Edelweiss a long and happy life!

Take care Horsewhisper and thanks for sharing that sad but lovely story with me. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜

Oh D, Iโ€™m so sorry to hear about what you have been through and for your brother to have suffered so much during this whole pandemic. It has made things so much harder for everyone - really tough for your broโ€™ to have declined in that way and for you to see him in such a different state. My heart goes out to you - and for you to venture out to visit him whilst being so vulnerable yourself, a huge amount of courage to do that. You are a great sister and have tremendous resolve - it will mean so much to him to see you. I hope he is comfortable and that you get the rest and respite you need to continue supporting him. Incredibly tough times for sure, blessings, hugs and prayers to you D - you are always in my thoughts xxx
