I suffer from lupus sle and fibromyalgia.

I've been in remission with lupus sle.

Would I qualify for the work capability assessment.

Thank you

Hello Ramada. I think the WCA is more to do with how your condition- any medical condition- affects your ability to work. So if the fibromyalgia prevents you from being able to work regardless of your lupus improving, you may qualify. This website has been found to be very helpful - benefitsandwork.co.uk/

Some of the information is free, but more detailed information is available to members. I think the joining fees are quite modest ( although when you can't work, nothing comes cheap!). Otherwise you could try your local citizens advice bureau. Good luck 👍

Thank you so much for your advice.

Unfortunately my husband lost his job during covid-19 and due to change of circumstances we had to claim universal credit and as i declared that I'm not capable of working Universal credit said this is the procedure.

I shall look into the link you have attached.

Once again thank you.

Kind regards,

Ramada

Good luck Ramada. I am very sorry that your husband lost his job. There may be someone else on this forum who can reach out to you with experience of Universal Credit and how to apply. I don't know how it overlaps with ESA now. But if you are unwell with any medical condition which renders you unable to work, I hope this will be factored in. It's worth checking independently the advice given directly by the DWP as it isn't always correct advice. In fact, I've heard stories of it being deliberately misleading at times! I think citizens advice bureau are still operating a limited advice line which hopefully will cover this. You could ring them. The benefits and work site are very good, but they don't provide people you can speak to for actual advice, just very thorough information. Good luck 👍

Thank you. Its feels good to get your advice and I feel reassured.

I was advised by another group about a advocacy group called fight 4 justice?

Iv msged them and waiting for a reply.

Iv not contacted CAB as I know I won't be able to get through.

I shall keep you updated.

Thank you once again

X
