NHS transport

I’ve been rescheduled an appointment for the 17 June in Manchester, I live in Lancaster , normally nhs transport would take me there but I just phoned them and they cancelled until further notice . I really wanted to have this exam done , I don’t know what to do , go by train? But I’m in the shielded category , I’m willing to take the risk , this test will determine what’s wrong with my muscles , nerves in my legs . I don’t know 🤷‍♀️

Are the volunteer NHS drivers also cancelled? Call the hospital and tell them the problem - they must know what's going on - or maybe not ...

Hi Melaxx

Can you call your local council ?

They have volunteers . Please explain your situation , I’m sure someone will come forward to drive you to your appointment .

Can I ask what test you are having done .

I’m having a lot of pain and tremendous weakness in my arms , it is really getting me down . I had a nerve conduction test booked , that was cancelled , still not had another appointment sent through in place of the cancelled appointment .

The more I do , the harder it is on my arms . They hurt in bones , tendons and muscles . I have an open appointment for steroid injection , I’ve been holding back , due to the fact it’s at the hospital .

I aim to go tomorrow , yet I still don’t know why my arms are so .

Hi Malaxx

Great news . Don’t forget your mask , all have to swear masks now in hospitals .

I went yesterday for my steroid injection .

Mask /gloves and clear safety glasses .

Waiting area 7 in ruematology . Only me there. I took a video . Very strange experience . Good thing is you are straight in and out , no waiting .

Thank you for the suggestion, I’ll contact the council and ask them .

The tests I’m having are: nerve conduction studies and electromyography ( NCS and EMG) . I hope they’ll give me an answer of why my legs in particular are so weak , I had an MRI scan of my muscles and came back normal .

Diffently go if you can....sounds like you need answers... Diffently tap into local voluntary groups ours are supporting council work to support sheilders...

I go armed with mask, gloves, gel, to use.

Also, consider taking a drink or snack with you and maybe your driver (as they will be asked to stay outside to wait)...

Hope it goes well...ml
