Oh the irony.

Six weeks into sheilding and finally got the first priority online shopping from Iceland still waiting to hear from the others. Hahaha.

I have a GP going crazy because I have still had to go out on occasions to get the shopping so I feel like a criminal because I have to sheild and under house arrest and a criminal because I need to get food or beg for mercy and charity and that's on top of some treating you like a scrounger because you have to exist on benefits because you are a full time carer for someone so can't go out to work even if you were healthy in the first place.

Good job I have a very warped sense of humour and somewhat bloody minded or I'd go completely gaga.

On the plus side I made myself some new trousers today, it was more a matter of having to really because of all the weight I've lost, cut the pattern for a size 10(UK) but had to adjust them to a size 8. At this rate I'll disappear but there again I won't need to do so much shopping so maybe a win win situation. 😂😂😂.

Have you not contacted the RVS helpline? I posted about it last week - and it works.

Yes and I've had help from the local council as well but you must admit it's somewhat annoying that all this time in shielding and only just starting to get a priority delivery, at the moment still only Iceland but thats better than nothing. It does seem strange that I can get my dress making fabric online and other things if I need them but there again they are sent by courier and not direct by their own delivery vans. Hopefully the big supermarkets will learn from this and respond quicker in future in curbing the panic buying and sorting out the delivery service faster even if it means those healthy customers giving up home delivery quicker freeing the service for those who really can't get to the supermarkets for health reasons rather than something else. I've tried a few times during "normal times" to get home delivery with very little success as they were fully booked so should have been forewarned really.

Never mind at least the weight loss isn't due to lack of food as I eat more than my hubby and the tests don't show anything wrong so am putting it down to one of those tricks my body likes to play. You know the old joke about the woman asking if her bum looks big in this? Well mines disappeared completely so I'm asking does it look like I've got a bum in this. LOL.

How are you keeping I hope things are going well for you.

Take care and keep well.

Same here, though I've not been notified by one supermarket that they've prioritised me. It's a total mess. I got a Waitrose click and collect, which is a pain as they are really expensive!

Yes it is a shambles with priority shopping I also doubled checked the Gov texts and refollowed everything to double check just in case but had done everything right but it does seem as though a lot of people have fallen through the cracks ( more like canyons). My poor GP was tearing her hair out but what can you do apart from ask for help from charities, be very very careful in whipping in and out of the shop or starve. I actually really like to eat despite how skinny I've become, not only eating healthy foods but the naughty stuff as well.

I really hope you can get sorted soon as it is a crazy situation to be in. Hopefully you can keep busy to help take your mind off things. Do you have any hobbies or a garden you can potter about in? Or though at the moment all I can do in the garden is cut the grass but at least I'm able to go out there and be safe, it's just the very noisy families at the back that get on my nerves at times as they can't talk normally to each other just screaming and shouting at the top of their lungs with all sorts of swear words and that the kids the adults are much worse. Oh and neither of the families are doing whats told as both took a weeks holiday and have visitors around most days. Alright for some it seems.

Oh well time to get some more sewing done at least thats harmless enough and I have something at the end of it. Mind you I've just finished some white trousers but have had to put them straight in the wash because I pricked my finger on a sewing pin and bled like a stuck pig on them. LOL.

Take care and keep as safe as you can.

Hi both my sister & i registered, didn't hear anything for 4 week. Two weeks ago both of us have received phone calls from the someone from the NHS. They ask you some questions such as are you receiving supermarket deliveries. We both said that we had managed to get 1 from Iceland & 1 Asda, but apparently Asda didn't have any white bread in store & he didn't think that was very good and said that he will get other supermarkets sorted out. On Monday afternoon we found a box of food & a white sliced loaf of bread on our door step. There was no note of who it was from, but since being on Martin Lewis website found out it comes from the local council, so you should be getting a call soon. If you don't hear soon get in touch with your council & tell them your on the Government list, they will help you

I'm in regular contact with the council as we are in sheltered housing so they phone every week because they can't do home visits for obvious reasons. The local council are really good and better organized than the rest so far.

The big Supermarkets are the ones that are causing problems with the lack of consideration starting from the moment the panic buying hoarders started to now and people who are stuck at home and still have no delivery service. But they are patting themselves on the back at how good they are dealing with it. More likely the profit then anything else and it's the director's at the top who are well sheilded from any shortages, going into crowded places, queuing and dealing with the customer. I have the greatest respect for the shop floor staff as they are the ones trying to help and get things done and having to put themselves at risk of not only the virus but from some really ignorant bad tempered and darn right rude customers.

Take care and keep well.

I've just had the delivery of free food this morning after filling in the gov website survey three times. I await help with priority delivery with supermarkets as trying to get slots has been a stressful , nightmare!. Have managed to get Sainsbury's Click and Collect which is a big relief!. Keep safe and well Boudica Xx

I haven't heard anything either after four weeks and registering twice. I phoned Tesco's helpline and they asked similar questions to those on the government register and put me on their priority list. My 80 year old dad did the same so if you can get deliveries in your area, try them. I have shopped at Sainsbury's for years but never again! I have received emails telling me how great they are and how they will contact those on the vulnerable list but I've heard nothing from them and can't contact them.

I don’t know anything about the area you live in of course. But I was phoned 2 days ago by someone from the council to offer food boxes or parcels. I said so far we are okay although, as you say, setting up the priority deliveries hasn’t happened yet - we did get a Tesco slot which comes on Sunday.

But, in the new area I’ve recently moved to, we have found out that there are two local travelling van shops and a new local artisan baker who will all do home deliveries to vulnerable people and enclose their online banking details with the food parcel. They have little jingles like ice cream vans so my husband heard one and went up to our back gate and spoke to the guy with a fish van across the street. He waited until my husband had gone inside and put a bag of fresh fish just over our gate with the bill and on line details and a message saying “let me know by this text if you like this fish and if once a week suits you or every other week. I understand you can’t come out so I’ll leave it just here”. The cost of the fish was less than it would have been at Waitrose and I have no sense of smell but my husband tells me it smells much fresher

It does feel so much better to support these kinds of small local businesses whenever possible and it beats having to go online at 1am to try and find a priority shop with one of the supermarket chains.

Of course I don’t know if this is an option for you but it maybe worth looking up your local shops and contacting them directly to ask?

Trying to get a priority supermarket slot is almost impossible from my experience. We do have a mobile fish man in our area but we seldom eat fish but fresh fish does not smell so at least you know the fish you got was indeed fresh. Had a food parcel delivered this morning at 8:30 by the local council they are on to us by phone about 3-4 times a week at the moment. It's just the supermarkets that are the main bug bear because trying to get the things you want/need so much harder. We have someone who collects our prescripts and if they can't manage it for some reason we have a system with the chemist set up in place where I phone to make sure that it's ready for collection, a quick drive to the chemist and phone when I'm parked outside and they bring it out and pop it in the boot of the car for me. We set this system up because with some of the tablets and the inhalers can be used up quicker at certain times so lucky for us the chemist has a stand bye just in case it's needed so I can keep things under control so to speak even when having a flare so I can avoid the A&E department even in normal times as most of the time I appear to know more then them and whats needed while they wander back and forth and faff about for ages only to then do what I suggested in the first place. They mean well I know but the vast majority have little to no knowledge poor things so spend most of their time either trawling through my notes until they find something and then constantly on the phone to the various consultants and heaven forbid they can't get hold of a consultant. I really feel sorry for some of the younger ones who are still going through their training and have never come across people like us before or heard of some of the rarer AI diseases they remind me of little rabbits dazzled by the car headlights at night.

Take care and keep well.
