Hi there if any one is still up at this time , as I am with my irritable legs and worry some mind .
I have spoken to rheumatology today on the help line has I needed clarification on my type of shielding advice . Most helpful tree graph provided to me by email from the nurse at rheumatology putting me in middle shielding group . Advice to not go shopping outdoor exercise and emergency contacts only .
Just wondering how anyone else feels about this middle group who have no one to do any shopping or other items needed for my 4 cats . My friend is shielding my neighbour is shielding my daughters both live in London . I’m up in Leeds . I’m a bit bemused as to why I don’t qualify for food parcels from what the government called the Eccess of food caused by the closing of cafes and restaurants .
I fail to get online shopping delivered .
Just feel that I’m told to isolate with no help . ?
I did phone the council , they kindly came round last With a bag of shopping for me . Pancake mix , herbal tea . A catering tin of beens , died egg noodles , packet of biscuits and a tin of sweet corn . ???
I’m getting anxious , as I need to go out and buy some shopping and need to go to cash point .
I don’t want to put myself as risk and I know that if I contacted the virus it would be the end for me , I had chronic bronchitis/ neumonia a year ago , with emergency treatment , that was bad enough .
Is anyone feeling like they are in a similar situation.
Told to self isolate for my own good , but making me a nervous reck , as I need to go and buy nutritional food . I feel I will have a panic attack just going to the supermarket .

Know exactly what you mean, I’ve been confused by the advice for this category too. I’ve had no letter as yet but from looking at the flow charts previously posted on this site I appear to be in this group too. I stay with my Dad and he has neutropenia so we both fall into this category so we like you were stuck.
After many attempts I managed to get through to Sainsbury’s customer services and explained our situation with regards to having autoimmune problems and the lady there added us to their list for online shopping which opens up their site to book slots for deliveries. I was already registered with them before the virus so not sure if this made a difference but might be worth a try calling them tomorrow. Their number is 0800 328 1700.
I hope this helps and let me know how you get on. Take care 🤗
It is confusing! Willow1414 hope you find a way through
Wondered what and where the flow charts are? (I've not had letter).
Nurse at GP surgery said she was disappointed that the top shielding category now very small. I live with my parents Ma is 82 with lung condition, Pa is almost 80 and neither considered in most vulnerable group, my Ma would probably not survive covid-19. Do loads of social distancing every flu & cold season anyway!
We have a friend doing shopping & prescriptions but can't get a delivery slot from supermarket. Someone I don't really know added some things to her click & collect and delivered! So generous!
I have to speak to gp some point this week. so will ask some questions. But Parents and I decided to self isolate before it became "official" and think we will stick with our plan - tho Ma had to have emergency eye check & blood test. The worst part is not seeing my partner who lives about 14 miles away (he has diabetes) at least he has his son home from Wuhan (!!) who is being very strict with him, although he will have to go to work for half day soon
Now going through layers of articles from Lupus uk
Hello, found it. It is on the NRAS community page from a week ago. I’ve attached the link below and it’s the first reply that has a link to Leeds hospital. I’m sure there was another flow chart too but can’t find that one, sorry.
Like you Dad and I are self isolating, letter or not.
It must be so hard not seeing you partner, but just hold tight to the thought it won’t be forever.
Stay safe 🙂
Ha, ha! Pancakes? Biscuits? Flour noodles? Do they realize that to anyone with what we have, that’s all poison? Might be safer heading to the store yourself with a mask, disinfectant wipes and several pair of gloves. 🤦🏻♀️
Put Covid-19 Mutual Aid into Google and see what you have in your area. Lots of volunteer groups across the whole UK. They can help get you shopping, post your mail, get prescriptions etc.
It is completely free and no one should ask you for money other than to pay for shopping.
If you don't get anywhere, then come back to us. Keep us posted.
You may like to try your local council as well, I know my local council are not only helping those who are at risk but also have a list of groups that are being very helpful. Even Age Concern could be another source of help and support.
Hi Willow - so sorry you aren't getting the support you need... I totally get it, re the fresh fruit and veg etc etc. I did a massive on line order 5 wks ago when could see this thing going the way it has... and that came last week. So I am ok for frozen veg and tins of fish, whole rice etc etc... but am relying on a friend who lives nearby to drop off fresh fruit and salad twice a week - I realise how very lucky I am. But.. if she wasn't here I know of many options in my town to contact for similar help. I know this because my friend is THE "Visit XXXX" bod here for the council and she has been drafted in to help the locals....she's totally up on it... so she directed me to lots of options of little shops that are delivering now, rather than being open as usual... and also voluntary groups that are doing amazing things to help the vulnerable here like yourself. Are you able to look on line and search your town and voluntary groups? or shops that are delivering such as smaller options that sell farm produce or whatever? I would be happy to have a search for you if you wanted to private message me where you live. I used to work in Social Care and know where to look...being a very nosy person ;). Let me know, D x
