Meltdown

I'm having a bit of a meltdown. my rheumatologist appointment has been cancelled and when calling to ask why they said they needed more information and it will potentially be rebooked but with delay. With no official diagnosis and all of this coronavirus I'm unsure what to do. I take ibuprofen daily as told by my GP to relieve joint pain but now they are saying it can make the virus worse. I dont want to self isolate prematurely as we are not being forced to yet as I could still potentially get on the return to work. Any advice or reassurance would be godsend at the moment. Much love.

Probably worth a call to GP to reassure you about Ibuprofen. Best wishes Kevin

I think many of us on here are having meltdowns it’s a very worrying time - if I were you I would have a phone appointment with your GP and explain your worries and see what they say - sending hugs 🤗

Hi Dreamliquid .

There is a lot of false information circulating about ibuprofen and COVID-19. Dr Chris Wincup kindly updated our article to discuss this. lupusuk.org.uk/coronavirus

There have been a few reports about non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen, Diclofenac and Naproxen in people who contract coronavirus (COVID-19) suggesting they could increase the risk of complications from the virus. However, this is currently being debated within the medical community and the advice is not clear. You should speak with your doctor or nurse specialist before discontinuing this medication if already taking it. It is suggested that you should not start taking this medication at this time if you are not on it already. It is very important that you DO NOT stop your steroid dose suddenly. A reduction in oral steroids should always be under your doctor’s supervision.
