Hi Stay,

Can you post a picture of the rash on here? You will probably have to make a new post.

But if it is the butterfly rash associated with Lupus it will just go in its own time as long as you are being treated for the flare with Hydroxychloroquine and/or steroids.

Best advice is to see your GP or better still if your hospital has a Rheumy helpline discuss it with them. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Hoping you get some medical advice soon. 🤗

Hi Staywithlupus,

Have you booked an appointment with your doctor about this? Your doctor can advise you correctly on how to treat the symptom and/or refer you to a specialist such as a dermatologist.

According to The Lupus Encyclopaedia, the rash of acute cutaneous lupus which includes the ‘malar rash’ (butterfly rash) can “last a few hours, a few weeks or sometimes longer”. A malar rash is generally not permanent; it often appears when disease activity is higher or when exposed to certain triggers such as UV light.

To find out how rashes can be treated, you can read our booklet on lupus and the skin here: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Please let us know how you get on, best wishes!

You can only cover the red patch. I found Nivea tinted moisture cream (light) dulls it down - it just takes a bit of practice. Good luck.

Hi, just to add to what the others have said, a product for rosacea sometimes helps with the redness (not the stuff with green tinges) I use la Roche posay spf moisturiser when mine flares & make sure you use an spf even in winter time x

To my understanding, as I have it. There is nothing to specifically get rid of it. As it's in your skin. The doctors have me creams but they actually didn't help. It was really beaches of he disease and flare ups etc. Bit if any one does know how to get rid of of it, please o would love to know! X
