Butterfly rash

Looking at some old photos a few days ago I came across one where the butterfly rash is very noticeable, but not to me at the time. Is it possible to have it for 30 years or more and not notice?

Is it possible then that my lack of antibodies, if any sort, is because there are now none left? I have hashimotos without antibodies too

It isn't that you have no antibodies , we've all got them for our immune systems to function!. it's whether they're detectable in bloods the normal way sue con for a diagnosis. Mind you I'm no medical expert so I'm sure someone on here with a medical background will supply the answer!. Hope so. Intetesting you've been diagnosed with hasimotos without positive antibodies. This can happen with these immune illnesses with the right consultant and once one has been diagnosed your more susceptible to gaining others This has happened to me over the years . Hope that's helpful. X

Thank you. I find it interesting too that when my I was pregnant with my daughter 40 years ago I was told that I was rhesus negative. But 10 years later when pregnant with my son rhesus antibodies were found but they were very faint and only detectable with the more modern machinery. As far as hashimotos goes a scan showed a small goita and nodules. Early ovarian failure in my early 30s too and vitiligo when I was a teenager. I was also diagnosed with pernicious anaemia at aged 7 and given loading injections but nothing again until five years ago when I was shown deficient in b12. I had no idea that an autoimmune disease raises it's ugly head so early

It's a very interesting subject Suecon how the immune system can throw up quirks. You've got a lot of auto- immune things in your background!. Are you any nearer a diagnosis for lupus?. If we're born with the fault in our immune system then it can easily start showing symptoms at an early age!. I was 5 or 6 when Raynauds started and then lupus symptoms started when I was 14!. A Rheumy should be interested in your background of different illnesses at an early age as well as symptoms now. X

The one I saw wasn't interested in symptoms or history, only blood results and nothing showed up, as far as I'm aware. All of these things run through my extended family
