Hey guys I had two and half glass of wine last night. I felt fine but then started feeling so hot and clammy and throwing up all night and this morning
Can be right can it ?
I have noticed my chest burning up on just one glass but I don’t have a headache 🤕 or anything that goes with a hangover.
Just really weird for me I’m not a big drinker but I can have a glass in the evening 2-3 times a week.
Just seems like it doesn’t agree with me anymore
So I am going to be t total from now on it’s not worth it for me.
Just wondered if anyone else gets the same this had only happen since I’ve been under investigation so around a year xxx

Hi J. I've had to give up alcohol altogether as it makes me so sick now too. Had a really similar thing happen me about 5 years ago. Had a couple of glasses of wine at a friends house and was literally poisoned. Sick all night and all following day. Took me about a week to recover. Was really scary considering how little I had drunk. I think it must be part of this too but not sure, as you know I'm same as you, only starting to figure this out. X
Literally the same I’m in bed now still Ill 😷 I had it once before
At the very beginning but I was out and just put to stress
But last night I was in my own home with a few friends I felt fine last night a little bit my face flushes but I cleared up the whole and woke up really sick the same as before I’m wondering if
The drink brings up the levels of inflammation? I’m going to leave it alone now as it just has me laid up for a few days not worth it atal
Lupus can attack various organs in the body. If it causes issues with your liver or digestion then alcohol will have more of a profound effect. I can get drunk on a thimble of alcohol these days so I just don't touch it now. A sip from my partner's glass is perfectly adequate for me if I feel I want the taste
I’m exactly the same as you Overnighthearingloss. I too only take a sip of my husband’s (and then only very occasionally) and on a special occasion like a wedding I have only half a glass of champers and give the rest to hubby. The next day I then take Milk-thistle which is supposed to be very good for the liver just to make sure no damage has been done. My SLE has affected my digestive system so that’s why I avoid it too.
OMG Jade, yup this is me. Honestly I get so sick from it whether I have 1 glass or a whole bottle. I get a red rash appear on my chest, I thought it was because I may have been an alcoholic even though I don't drink lol.
I get real bad nausea the day after, and rashes over my legs too. I thought it could also be an allergic reaction but my bloods taken suggested not.
I guess now I have accepted that it is an intolerance to alcohol. xx
On the tiles to get cold last night throwing up 🤮 I’m still hot to touch now!
Going clammy it was awful still don’t feel right today better but not right hope
I cool off by tomorrow! Tbh I had enough and stopped my healthy eating and gym and started to have a glass in the evening this has given me a big wake up call!
I’m back on track tomorrow
I swear il never touch a drop again it
Was that bad Over a few glasses of wine just another thing I now can’t do but I guess it’s a good thing really I do use it to unwind and I shouldn’t my mum was the same and I don’t want to go that road xx
You will hardly ever see me with a drink because I know the consequences of it. For me I may as well just drink the bottle then have one glass because what ever I consume I end up feeling like poo.
And yes it is probably a good thing that you don't get in to that habit, because a habit normal starts off with full control and then before you know it we need more and more.
I used to drink quite a bit so Im glad in a way I stay off of it but it can be unsociable at times.
So sorry to hear the wine has affected you so badly. I can’t get on with alcohol anymore either as I mentioned to Overnighthearingloss. If you can get hold of MilkThistle (sold in health shops or on-line) it really helps because it is so good for the liver. I hope you are feeling better soon, but I advise you keep off the alcohol and just have a sip now and again just for the taste. 🤗
I’m fine thanks Buckley. 🤞Over my recent flare now and back to classes at local Bannatynes. Fatigue is slowly lifting and more energy returning. 👍🏻 The exercise classes definitely help (Body Balance which is a mixture of Tai Chi, Young’s and Pilates) and Young at Heart aerobics class, as well as walking although I’ve been a bit lazy about that recently with it being so cold! 🤫 Good luck getting back on track! I should really join you as I’ve put on a few pounds in recent weeks. Not a good feeling!
Hi Spotty-ewe, like the sound of this Milk-Thistle, will pop into my local Holland & Barratt to see if they stock it.
> does it have a certain taste to it?
It is quite sad that we cannot enjoy just one 🍷wee glass of Vino without feeling as those we have been dragged through the mill 😭 Our illnesses have taken away all the enjoyment from our lives.
No there is no noticeable taste to the Milk Thistle tablets. They are not cheap, but then neither is booze and these do the opposite to drink so well worth it. I only take them after I’ve had a wee snifter for 1, 2 or 3 days depending on how big a glass I’ve had. The largest I ever normally drink is a sherry glass size but more usually a thimble size.
Good luck with it. I hope you enjoy the benefit of it as much as I do. 🤞👍🏻 🤗x
This happened to me on a shandy. I was scarily ill, too much to even be able to ring the dr, I should have been in hospital really. I think that I have some gastroparesis ( I have scleroderma) and I also have SIBO so this probably doesn't help.
I actually know of wards who have a drinks trolley and patients are offered a wee nip the night before surgery - less problematic for the purpose than drugs and saves the staff scraping the patient off the ceiling (I quote). They are also not uncommon in oncology units.
