Feeling awful after PIP Tribunal

Had my pip Tribunal this morning and am feeling absolutely awful and so depressed after it. The questions were confusing and my clarity of thought made me feel I probably wasn’t saying the right thing. I’m so scared of losing the allowance that has kept me physically independent for so long. The result will be sent in the post. Can’t help but think all day about how awfully it went. I know many of you have gone through this. Just wanted to put it out in a group of people who would understand. Thanks for reading.

Thanks so much. I think I’ll have a shower and watch some Grace and Frankie. A self hug for going through that ordeal is a great idea. Xx

Thanks very much. It does feel absolutely unfair to have to go through such a gruelling process, when before these things were settled via an application form and many consultants letters. Dreading the post.

Hope all goes well for you and its not as bad as it seemed. My son was assessed at home this afternoon and now he waits 4 to 6 weeks for the result. Good luck and try not to worry xx

Thank you very much. I didn’t sleep at all last night. I was just wide awake remembering it all. I hope your son’s went well and that he had a positive result. All the best. X

I don’t know what that is but I’m assuming it’s like disability in the USA. In that case the more discombobulated you were the more helpful it is. I hope it all turns out well for you.

Sending peace and hope

Let’s very much hope so! Because of our last conservative government lots of changes were made to welfare here in the uk. So it’s harder to get aid now. The actually turned a three tier system to a two tier, knocking everyone at the bottom off! Thanks for your kind wishes. X

Hi Lily, I went through this with an ‘assessor’ who blatantly lied. They get commission you see . Anyway they reduced mine as I knew they would from the assessor’s attitude. They give you a year to appeal THEN they reduce your allowance , so if this happens you still have a year before they stop or take money off you. The important thing is to appeal, it is more widely known that assessors get commission and judges are almost certainly on our side. I won my case and got a lifetime award. So go through the process to appeal, the cab will help you. Hopefully it won’t come to this but if it does you’ll feel like throwing in the towel, but when you calm down hopefully you’ll go after them all guns blazing. Good luck X

Thank you for your message and positivity. I have now found out that I have lost my higher rate mobility thus lost my motability car entitlement. It’s been a terrible day. I’m just seeking advice. The org that refered me to the lawyers who came to my Tribunal have said that 90% of cases fail but that I should get a statement of reasons from the court to know what their thoughts were. Are you talking about an upper tribunal?

Yes the final tribunal, the others are reconsiderations asking capita or whoever conducted it, they will say no (I think that’s what they mean by 90% failing, then you get a chance to ask DWP themselves for a ( it’s called a reconsideration) 90% of the time they will fail so you then take it to tribunal where the judges are nothing to do with the process they are almost always on our side. It’s just some people, understandingly so, don’t have the energy to go through the process but Lily it is worth it. You know they can’t take your car yet?? Have you had any info on that? I can send you some if not.

Lily I understand completely what you’re going through, I’m so ill on top of that I nearly had a breakdown. The reconsiderations are going through the assessors points and telling them why it’s wrong, so make sure you get the assessors reasons. Don’t worry too much, you just need to do this as part of the process, you can’t ask for a tribunal until ‘all other options have been tried. We know they’ll reject us anyway, it’s the tribunal you want where you’ll get a fair hearing and a sympathetic panel. X
