Is there anyone else with subcutaneous lupus? The rash is very distressing. Will I be scarred forever? Any recommendations welcome. Thanks

Lupus Rash scarring
Are you able to post a photo of your rash? X
I had a horrible rash from head to toe due to a reaction to Terbinafine 6 years ago. The spots all joined on my back creating a solid area of lumpy red and extremely itchy skin which went yellow and scabby as it progressed. The Dermavate helped and I was also advised to use aqueous cream as the rash began to subside, even in the shower as a shower cream. When the rash was at its worst and unbearably itchy I had my husband spread honey onto the skin where I couldn’t reach myself, and I sat with a towel wrapped around me like that for 20 -30 mins before a cool shower. It really helped too. Finally I drank camomile tea (with honey in it as I hate the taste of it) and I think that helped to calm down the system and what was going on inside. When the rash faded I did not have any scars. I have a bad flare right now, although nowhere near as bad as that time, so I’m hoping the rash will go without leaving scars once again.
I hope some of this is of help to you, and I hope the rash begins to die down and fade very soon. 🙏🏻
I know some types scar, if it is SCLE it shouldn't, it didn't for me. I would say my body was trying to heal itself by bringing out a layer of new skin once it really got going, if that makes sense. So my new skin, where the rash is slightly a different colouration from the areas that where I was not affected (I was also put on meds to stop the spreading & calm the rash down). Though I do not go in the sun without covering up, my skin is slightly pinker than it was...
Hope you are able to get it under control soon & you start to heal...ml
Thank you Maggie, You give me hope😉
Are you taking any meds such as hydroxychlorquine? Mine cleared up very quickly & has helped with achy muscles etc. ML
Yes, I’ve been on hydroxychloroquine for some years to help with my Rheumatoid Arthritis, it is also indicated for Lupus
I can only agree with everyone else. The rash is horrible and takes a long time to fade but it does eventually go. So many of us seem to have been badly affected this year and I am blaming the long, sunny summer. Keep out of the sun and use lots of moisturiser and we should all be spot free by Christmas!
I was just diagnosed with cutaneous lupus after I was sent to a university. My rash is horrible and to be honest it's really upsetting.
