Lupus Rash

I know that this a real random question but has anyone been told that their rash Is scerbies when in fact it was lupus. Went to the GP this week and was told that the rash that I have had for the last 6 weeks is scerbies. The rash is all over by body (not on arms, legs or face though). I haven't been in contact with anyone to catch scerbies!

Yes I have. I had a rash all over my chest and the dermy registrar diagnosed it as scabies. However he did also send me for extensive bloods which revealed I had subacute cutaneous lupus. He gave me treatment for the 'scabies' but I never used it. Once I was started on hydroxy the rash cleared.

That is very interesting. My rash started on my chest 8 weeks ago and is now all over my stomach as well. Nothing on my hands or legs at all. Haven't been in contact with anyone to give me scabies and from the photos I have seen online it looks more like a lupus rash to me. I have used the cream today and I will do the same next week just so I can go back to my GP. Everything I say is being dismissed at the moment, really frustrating!

oh my goodness! I was told I had scabies long before my diagnosis of lupus, sjogrens etc.

I worked in a school but couldnt work out how I’d caught it. I had friends with magnifying glass searching for the ‘holes’ where the mites are supposed to burrow. with none found.

my rash wash across my chest and intensely itchy, I used the lotion that I was given which eased the rash. Ive been left with these strange brown blobby marks and when i look up scabies, it doesnt say anything about being ‘scarred’ I also have these blotches on my face, where I once was told that it looked like ringworm! They dont bother me but maybe I should ask to see dermatology 🤷‍♀️

Oh yes, so very itchy! I have got no burrow marks at all. I have long suspected for many years that my symptoms look more like lupus than scleroderma but doctors just don't listen.

I’m not sure how lupus rash can vary - being all over the body like this, but had rash on face initially diagnosed and treated as roseacea and then they went to impetigo before a locum gp suspected lupus and got diagnosis confirmed quickly.

hello, sorry to hear about your rash. I was diagnosed last year with Lupus. But in the year leading up to my diagnosis I had a recurring rash. This kept being misdiagnosed as Rosacea or contact dermatitis previously.
