I have been lurking for awhile without posting. I have had many symptoms over the years, mainly headaches and fatigue that have always been dismissed. In January I started having pain in my toe joints on the right side of my foot that would come and go. It then spread to my left foot as well. I saw a doctor that ran blood work and came back with positive ANA and I don’t remember the pattern. She mentioned I had lupus like symptoms but not enough markers in blood had come back for a diagnosis. The joint pain has now spread to my hands in the last month and I am now wondering if this is normal or maybe another condition such as RA. I will be going back to the doctor soon and realize no one here can give medical advice but was simply wondering if anyone has had similar experiences.
Also curious what can be done to help alleviate this pain. It is in the joints at the base of fingers and toes. Worse in early morning and lasts awhile.
Thanks!

Dear Rue, sounds like what I am going through. Positive ANAs but not enough markers to clearly call it Lupus. I think they refer to it as Latent Lupus Apparently Lady GaGa has it and calls it pre-Lupus. My doctor’s are calling it UCTD (Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease) and they are continuing to check for Lupus. They said I have so many symptoms but my numbers aren’t there yet (?) Anyway, with UCTD, I think, it can go into something else or it can stay where it is? But ask your doctor if they think it’s UCTD or Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. Maybe that will help you because then you can start figuring things out? Idk, i’m still trying to figure it all out myself🤷🏻♀️.
I don't have Lupus I'm also having pain in my toes and fingers aswell as my knees. My doctor said there was inflammation in my blood results but rheumatology would not see me unless I had swelling aswell as pain, which I don't.I have made myself another Dr appointment as there has to be some reason for the inflammation and I'm in pain all the time
It can be frustrating! I have the opposite problem. My blood inflammation was in the normal range but I now have swollen, red, and painful knuckles. A few on my left hand and on both sides of my feet. Hoping I can get a referral to start figuring this all out
