As I have been very unwell with my flare-ups these past few weeks, and I thank all of you for your supports, and inspirations. I found myself wondering in my home like a prison. The walls holding me inside, when my mind wants to be out in the garden and such, I thought, what can I do to set my lupus mood onto a better path. Food, It is the soul of thought. It makes us happy, joyful and strong. I am not talking about a food bender binge, just a little bit of food that makes you happy, that takes your mind to a time you want to remember, maybe when you were younger as a child or a special day with family or friends. An event that brings a smile to your face just thinking of that food. For me it is ice cream floats, home made lollies, barefoot and cold watermelon and summer fruit salads. So I picked my sorry butt up and went and made some of these little delicious delights. And you know what, it made me happy!!!! What are your happy foods, and if so, some simple recipes and memories we all can share here together. Hi thestorm.

What a lovely uplifting message. I too am going through a flare up for over 2 weeks now, it's relentless. I want to be gardening, sewing etc but I work full time so all my energy goes on the working day.

I totally agree about the food treats. Eating something that makes you happy gives you such a boost.

For me its freshly baked lemon and poppy seed bread , toasted , with a variety of spreads (lemon curd, choc spread, peanut butter etc) or just chocolate 😍. No recipe required for that!

Hi ange, thanks for the yummy idea! We all need some soul food here. My flares are flaming. So to the kitchen I go to make a fruit salad now. I found my happy place. Hope you find yours, and your flare up calms down soon. Or just have a nice slice of that poppy seed bread. o' so good. peace blessings thestorm🍨

Aww so pleased that you know what helps gets you through awful flare symptoms and just go for it🤗

My hubby and I are trying to lose weight - with me it’s a horribly impossible task. For him he’s very physically active and gluten intolerant (has never been checked for Coeliac but definitely gets sick on wheat) it’s more easy. But he’s also got to sort his poor posture where I have okay posture - I’m just very apple shaped fat!

So the 2.5 diet suits him well as does the AIP or paleo diet. Me - well it’s awful for me because my gastritis and tremors flare on fasting days and I’ve had to take to my bed every other day and switch to little and often or I feel faint and nauseated.

The other day I had a wobbly with him about this so to cheer me up he bought me a berry magnum ice cream lolly. It was sheer, unadulterated heaven! However yesterday we got stuck for ages in traffic hold up and finally managed to escape with a U turn and ended up in a nearby Burger King😬🥴🤭. We indulged in the full meal each and I’m still paying a price so I think I need to take a leaf out of your healthy treat book! For me comfort food is low sugar Granola with grapes, nectarine and a large scoop of natural yoghurt from the fridge. 😬🤗

O' Twichytoes, Apples are good and for you, you are sweet just the way you are,😊 truly I can tell! That lolly sounds fantastic, and indulging is ok for all of us sometimes we need the lift,despite the fall afterwards. I do wish you and hubby the best on diets. I know they are hard rules to follow these days. I love burger King, but it does not love me later either. IBS comes in to play nasty games with the King. I still go about one at times too!! Treats are sweet, and special for each one of us. Here is a little story If I may share it with you, and all here, eat, Peaches! They are sweet, 1 peach has great benefits, 250 mg's of potassium, to lower your blood pressure, helps with weight loss, they have the mineral fluoride in them for teeth health- who knew. Peaches also help widen blood vessels to defer blood clot's, and canned peaches are great for a cold, a soft diet that can soothe upset stomach and gas, they are great in yogurt too! I pray that you have more peachy days ahead, and thank you for all your really excellent, advice throughout this hub! You have great experiences to share, peace, and blessings to you thestorm

Yes I completely agree! Although we tend towards nectarines over peaches because no peeling or skinning required for my useless fingertips. But a good nectarine is as good as it gets I agree even the juicy mess after! Back on the straight and narrow now as I’m having various tests and don’t want them to be compromised. X

Hi crazy Cat, krafty, LOL, mac & cheese all the way. I am right there with you. Yet another yummy treat!!! Hungry now, back to the kitchen. Funny story, when I had dental work done, I lived on that dish for months. Loved it.🥣🥣🥣 peace, blessings, thestorm
