LUPUS EUROPE’s ‘Kick Lupus’ 2019 competition is now open!

What does ‘Kick Lupus’ mean? It means to do what makes you happy, live your life as best as it can be and do something that you love.

To enter LUPUS EUROPE’s competition, you need to record a short home video no longer than 60 seconds talking about how you kick lupus! The winning entry will receive one person’s travel bursary to LUPUS EUROPE’s 30th Anniversary Convention in Liverpool in November 2019.

Please send your entry to kirsi@lupus-europe.org and include a sentence in the email confirming consent for LUPUS EUROPE to share your video.

The closing date for entries is Monday 30th September 2019.

Good Luck!

I don't want to sound rude but as a lupus sufferer the prize is not worth the effort it would take us. Plus how many of us would travel that far alone?

I think the concept that we can push with exuberance and overcome, with effort and a positive attitude, is a worthy one for healthy people with temporary obstacles. Having tried to apply that for years when I first became ill, and becoming sicker and sicker since my body could not support the effort, now it just makes me sad. Having a quiet day and noticing something beautiful is what sustains me. I love this website and appreciate everything all of you do for us. Your staff has a lot of sensitivity, but the Lupus Europe campaign seems a little tone deaf.

You are kicking lupus with your quiet days and finding beauty inspite of your horrible illness. I read this as what ever one does to spark joy in the face of pain is worthy of consideration. Just a few months ago in an acute phase of illness, all I could focus on was pain, grief and hopelessness. Finding joy is a feat in and of itself! In my eyes you have won already!

Thank you so much. Your reply helps me see this in a bigger frame, and was so kindly stated.

I'm with all of you here in this one. Do what you can, like take what you need, and leave what you don't, therediccly speaking. If we get up and do just one thing in personal satisfaction, then the day here was worthy of reflection. All of us here support each other to the finish line everyday. Travel is in the mind. We kick -ss everyday we get up. Peace, thestorm

Hi,read this yesterday, didn’t know what to think.

This morning, haven’t thought it over,I think that although the sentiments expressed on the poster are good,I really don’t think I’m kicking lupus at the moment. Lupus is kicking me at present!

Have a diagnosis of SLE, ON MY 5 week of azatropine, which is knocking me over..am up to75mgm bd. Doing my best to stay positive.

Currently. I don’t go anywhere on my own due to shortness of breath. So couldn’t accept the bursary if I won it. Sorry to be so negative, just wanted to give honest feedback.

On a positive note,I feel very lucky to be treated by Manchester hospitals and am grateful for the fact that the centre of Excellence is only 45 minutes drive away..

Have a good Day everyone

The concept is very good, but, I’m so sorry, if I entered and won, I would weep at the thought of Liverpool in November. Only too happy to see the entries in the warmth of my home.

I rather hope there’s one of a doctor getting a kicking. Done by a very clever animator of course. Mustn’t get silly.
