My foot aid. Cannot believe how common this foot pain is. I was starting to believe it’s because I’m obese until this recent flare.

Just thought I would share this photo of the foot massager I use. It works better when wearing socks. It does massage quite deep, depending how much pressure you put on it. I would say you’d have to be a pleasure pain kind of person, it can feel quite uncomfortable and odd to some especially first couple of goes. This mainly gets me through the summer .

I brought mine from Argos, when it was half price. It doesn’t make the pain go away but it’s nice to get a different feeling going on in the feet. The usual pain does come back straight after, but using vic vapour rub and some socks does feel heavenly.

It’s a shiatsu foot massager

X

I've been using ibuprofen gel on the soles of my feet, saw a podiatrist who said I had plantar fasciitus and gave me exercises to do, just seems to have made the pain worse

I’ve never been to a podiatrist, only massage and she comments on how stiff my feet are. I don’t feel exercise would help, keeping them cool seems to be key. I haven’t tried specialist exercises but walking is no good , that’s why I view exercise as no good . Sometimes I wish I could take my feet off just like shoes and leave them by the door x

oh yes definitely, I fancy swapping them for blades. shoes really hurt so do socks

I’ve been to a podiatrist, turned out I was wrongly dx with PF, I actually have erythromelalgia, I try to avoid my feet getting hot & it’s worse at night, treatment is with Gabapentin or similar, I’m on Duloxetine.

Hi I ended up with plantar in both feet, the family then started sending me different straps which helped, but in the end I some physio of deep foot massages & insoles which eased the pressure and made my arch improve & so far no looking back...it did take a long time though...so the tennis ball & pushing your foot against the wall is to stretch the tightening arch / heel...

amazon.co.uk/Wellbeing-Supp... like the pro 11....

Feel better ml

that's the exercises I was given. the insoles haven't helped and the exercises have made both feet worse. plus because I am limping more my back hurts too. seeing podiatrist again on Wednesday.

Good to hear, see if they will support physio, it sounds like you may need some heat/cold treatment & go gentle on exercises as our poor arches are very tight... It bound to effect all parts of your body it is so impactive on our bodies....hobbling around. I still wear insoles so takes a long time to sort & as you know very painful..... I strapped my feet for a while to re train them....gosh just writing it reminds me how bad it was....let me know how you get on ...ml

I can never tell if its a muscular pain or nerves, but it certainly gets on my nerves!!!!!!! I think the cold, hot compression maybe a good idea to try, but I kind of feel put off by the idea as it seem to be hear that triggers the pain x

My feet have begun to be affected when I flare as have my lower back and hips - it’s hard to know if one is causing the other but a foot massager sounds lovely - currently it’s my children who massage mine 🤣🤣

funny my hips and lower back are starting to cause havoc during my flares. Very strange. My children would not massage my feet unless I paid them lol x

I think the foot massage looks like a good way to help at least keep some stimulation going. I finally paid for private physio out of desperation to walk & she applied the heat along my back & legs & then did a deep massage especially the legs & feet...having been so stiff by this point it really helped....its awful as it can really throw your body out of wack & impact everything....ml

What exactly is this pain everyone is feeling? Can you describe?

I only ask because recently (say the last four months or so) whenever I walk I’ve been feeling like, you know when you walk on a pebble beach and it hurts? Something akin to that. It makes me hobble and is very painful. I use to only get it in the morning but now it seems all day every day. It’s as if my feet have had 10 rounds in the ring with Miles Tyson 😂

Thanks lovelies 💜🌟

Mine feel like an intense burning feeling that then turns in to a stiff feeling along with the burning. Its like they are swollen but there isn't any swelling noticeable. Its a very deep pain. If I press into the soles of my feet the pain intensifies, but strangely a massage helps as its one of those pains that feel better for a slight moment when you touch it. Not sure that makes any sense. I can not be on my feet for long though as it becomes unbearable. Definitely exposure to the sun is a trigger for me x

Yes Lisalou19!! Makes total sense! I don’t get the burning too much but the feeling you described is much like what I was trying to describe. Swollen and deep muscle pain, which is what I meant by walking on stones or cobbles bare foot! Thanks for clearing it up and I’m glad I’m not alone 💜🌟

The vic with socks can be quite soothing x

I suspect everyone has different pain. Mine feels like someone has been hitting the bottom of my feet with a baseball bat...and I’m left with the throbbing, burning pain. Sometimes they throb so much that it feels like they will burst out of my skin. Always burning pain. Putting them on something cold is heaven. I haven’t tried vaporub..but it sounds hopeful. I get painful hips and knees too...so maybe from there. Also leg muscles ache a lot. Who knows. Actually doc is trying amatryptaline?? for nerve pain? I think it might be helping...but it makes me so tired I can’t really function (couldn’t much anyway..but this is different). 😊

I have a few different thoughts here that might help, having gone through the wars with two minor surgeries.

1. Morton’s neuroma. Might have your podiatrist check for this. Sounds very much like some of you lovely ladies are describing what I had and subsequently had surgery for.

2. A little more concerning is , “ March fractures “, or metatarsal fractures. This can be seen with the anti phospholipid Syndrome. Poor blood flow to the vessels that supply the bones in this particular area can leave them vulnerable to fractures. ( another common are is the hips, and jaw bones.)

Just something to keep in mind. If you are known to have APS antibodies, it’s worth looking into.

If you have not had the APS panel checked in some time, or if you are not sure, I would ask your Rheumatoligist to make sure .

I have had both. Extra cushion and switch to wedges if you need a bit of a lift with skirts.

Not what you're looking for?
