Hi, I have been fighting for Zentiva hydroxy for over a month now and still my pharmacy cannot get them, they keep being told by Zentiva that all stocks are in the hospitals only! I have 2 wonderful lads at my pharmacy who have been chasing and trying to find some for me,they have found dribs and drabs only, what is up with this world if we cant have our meds! the stress it is causing me is now causing flares and extreme anxiety, I am worn out.
Anybody else still having problems?

Hi.the hcq shortage has been on going for some time due to an ingredient shortage i think.there were several posts inc one from admin just recently.i was given an indian brand last script.the hospital also can't get my thyroid extract drug which is imported from America.....not a tablet to be had anywhere No point stressing over something we can't do anything about x
There is also a shortage of some Blackrock doses.you will be given an alternative brand.ive been put back on synthetic thyroxine which doesn't work very well for me but I've got no choice. I've just got to ride it out until my other thyroid drug is available again but i know its easier said than done sometimes. X
We are prescribed them because they can help but regardless of whether they help or not there just isn't any x
Please try Boots. My experience is that small companies don't have access to med if there is shortage. Local Boots had always had supply even when there is shortage. I hope you find it.
my Boots managed to get some, late but eventually.. ( I ve had issues before so i have a few moths spare to cover emergency’s ) I did print all lupus Uk info and they have been in touch with Zentiva. Next script due in 3 weeks so guessing be late again
Yep there is a national shortage of Zentiva, all I get offered is Bristol labs which makes me sick. As Spanielmadlady says maybe we are going to have to be sick on bristol labs until our brand comes back. You could ring round chemists at a further radius away from you until you may find some. That's what I did for my last prescription but it took hours and like you I was exhausted and tearful. I managed to find a chemist with several boxes and they have put them aside for me for my next prescription. Forget Boots in Wiltshire, they will no longer order meds in at all. See Lupus UK updates as there are codes you can use with chemists that may get you hydroxy of choice but if there's a manufacture issue then it may not be possible for anyone to order your brand in. Its such a pain we have to go through this. It makes you feel that your part of such a small condition that you don't matter. I hope you find Zentiva somewhere without too much travelling.
I’m having the same problem. Went to pick up my prescription yesterday and can’t get it. I have coeliac and Zentiva is the only brand that I can tolerate. I have enough until Wednesday. See my rheumatologist on Monday so maybe I will be allowed to get a prescription from the hospital pharmacy, if they have it. If not then hopefully my rheumatologist will advise me on on what to do. The problem is with Zentiva, not the pharmacies, and it is recommended if you can’t get Zentiva to try Blackrock as it is the closest to Zentiva there is. I would have to find out if there is any gluten containing ingredient in it before I even tried it. 💊 🏥 👩🏻⚕️
my pharmacy has managed to find me some at our local hospital pharmacy, they rang my doctors and got an emergency script then took it personally to this other pharmacy, hubby picked up a months worth for me earlier, they don't have Black Rock either, but I think they also do not agree with me. Good luck with yours, I would be interested in what your rheumy does please xx
I’m glad you managed to get your Zentiva. I saw my rheumy today. She didn’t really have any ideas on what I could do. Hospital pharmacy had no Zentiva. She got in touch with my surgery who got back to me later to say to phone the surgery pharmacist tomorrow. Hopefully they will have some answers.
I usually get Zentiva but this month I've been given IPCA brand which is same ingredients as Bristol 🤮 I'm glad to hear your pharmacy lads have managed to get some for you. It's awful I agree..I've been unable to get Xalin nighttime gel for two months now so I've bought some Hycosan on Amazon 🌈xx
There don't seem to be too many problems in the Scottish Borders. A short delay a couple of months ago but no problem last time. I'm putting my prescriptions in earlier than usual just in case it takes more time to source them.Hope you get sorted soon.
Two months ago, and then now, pharmacies here found it impossible to get Zentiva.
Both times given IPCA, that I'm taking two days a week (weekend), using remaining Zentiva other days (two tablets Mon, Wed and Fri). Noticed this week nauseous three days after the IPCA weekend. Stopped me in my tracks.
Thinking of asking for Blackrock 300mg, as on this dose really.
It would interesting to know what percentage of folk with 'Zentive specified-prescription' cannot get Zentiva anymore, no matter where they go.
At the moment I'm trying to work out a way of coping with IPCA, in case this is where things end up in the long run.
