Hi everyone, I recently moved to England (Peterborough) and I will have my first GP appointment here. How does lupus control work here? Is it always done in the GP or are we being referred to a hospital or lupus center?
Thanks.

If you are already on a treatment plan prepared by a consultant the GP will probably continue with that routine. Write a short history of your lupus to hand to your GP and a copy of your current medication. Best wishes Kevin
Welcome to England Mariana. I'm in the same area and asked to be referred to addenbrookes hospital, Dr Francis hall. She specialises in lupus and has a nurse specialist as part of her team. I don't know what the support is like at Peterborough. There is a lupus support group run by local lupus uk people, who meet regularly - have a look at the website. Heather
Hi Mariana - Your gp is the best one to advise or refer you to hospital. I was referred for blood tests initially and once SLE was confirmed I was given hospital appointments for regular checks. My gp had very little to do with it all after the initial referral for tests.
Wish you well with it all and welcome to England
Hi Mariana.
After blood tests, I was referred to Rheumatologist and have a 6 monthly consultation at my local hospital. Our local Cambridgeshire Lupus group have coffee mornings during the year for us Lupies to get together. If you are interested I will send you our latest newsletter which has the details of our coffee and Chats. We hold one in Peterborough on a Saturday and one on a Wednesday. John
Thank you! Is this group that you are referring? m.facebook.com/Cambridgeshi...
Yes Mariana. You will see the Coffee and chat invites on the page.
