Hydroxychloroquine and rash?

I was recently started on hydroxychloroquine for possible lupus. My ANA came back at 1:160. So weak. My MD thinks I may have lupus.

5 days in I broke out with this after running...thoughts? It is full body. Started on my face and is ever where. I took Benadryl and nothing changed. It is not itchy but feels like it is burning and pulsing in areas. I am a pharmacist and never seen an allergy rash like this.

I'd see your GP about it.

Was made to stop it immediately.

Yes, I had a horrendous rash when I first started hydroxy. I had to stop it for a couple of weeks and wait for the rash to go, then started it again at 200mg every other day. I didn’t get it then and have been fine with it since, and have been taking 400mg daily for 3 years now.

I had Steven Johnson syndrome after taking hydroxichloroquine for 10 days. Best get it checked out.

I was very itchy and had rashes for a couple of weeks after starting hydroxy, but it subsided. As Pro says it’s quite a common side effect. As with anything, see your doc if you are worried.

im on hydroxychloroquine for 3 months then develop rash behind my ear .. i think it is progression of disease .. dermatology said it might be eczema.. then its spead over my back.. i keep scratching till it became scar.. then i reliazed i never had eczema in my life.. i think it side effect of hydroxychloroquine.. this week i will see my rheumatology
