Just thought I would let you all know I now have an appointment with the rheumatologist but not the lady I have seen before.
I got very upset as she had told me she wanted to see me again. I have left several messages on the clinic coordinators phone asking her to ring me. As both me and my GP think it is important to have the continuety with the Consultant.
I don't know what else to do as she hasn't got back to me.
Also do any of you suffer with throat infections? Have had one for about a month. All of my joints are still killing me and feeling rather fed up.
I hope you are all as well as you can be. Xx

Hi wrexlu......you will see on your appointment letter that you will see the Consultant "or one of the team"...your best bet if you don't feel comfortable with the rheumatologist you are due to see, is to telephone appointments & ask to see the lady you prefer?
TBH I doubt if she has time to call patients back.
The downside of this approach is that she may not have an available appointment as soon as the one you have.
But it's worth a try if you really want to see a particular doctor.
Hi Wrexlu, as AgedCrone says, phone the appointments folks, say you can do a cancellation at short notice for the one you'd prefer to see...and keeping phoning asking for cancellations...it pays to be persistent 🤪
Throat infections = a flare for me, my glands go up and I have that coming-down-with-a-cold feeling...raw garlic in moderation gets shot of bacterial infection (doesn't work for everyone, it can increase the immune reaction in some, is used medically as an antibiotic in countries where pharmaceuticals are unaffordable), and I get Candida URT infections during flares and since no doctor believes me, I use potassium sorbate (to be found in the home brew section of a supermarket as a yeast killer 😈 ...again comes with no recommendations but it works for me) and then, because I can at the mo, I sleep whenever the need overwhelms me...when I was working, I would helplessly fall asleep in meetings (5-years+ pre-diagnosis continuous flare) but my boss couldn't say anything as the some men* would go to meetings just to sleep 😂🤗🤩xxx
* no gender bias intended: I was mocked for falling asleep: some men would sleep propped upright at their desks and the Dept Head would just walk on by 😋
